PAY RATE $15/hour

THE OPPORTUNITY

Assist new Global Scholars in their transition to Babson College and life in the U.S. They serve as role models, provide support during orientation, and help first-year students integrate into the campus community.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Communication: Provide updates and event information to scholars, communicate with faculty mentors, and, if possible, develop a plan for engaging with Global Scholar alumni.
  • Program Planning: Assist in organizing orientation, monthly all-scholar events, first-year programming support, and cohort retreats. Ensure compliance with campus protocols, including waivers and safety procedures. Handle event preparation and cleanup.
  • Individualized Support: Collect scholar bios, resumes, and photos for program records.
  • Storage Organization: Assess and manage supplies for students. Advise on new supply acquisitions and collect donations from graduating scholars for incoming students.
  • Budget Planning: Assist in researching products to support student needs, such as bedding, food, and storage. Ensure budget accuracy and assist with tracking student purchases for reimbursement.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

  • Must be a sophomore or higher with knowledge of campus and student life.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to propose new ways to support scholars.
  • Caring personality with an ability to understand the challenges faced by others.
  • High level of discretion, as the role involves access to private scholar information. The coordinator relies on the assistant to convey any concerns they may have for a fellow scholar.
  • Interest in programming and event planning.
  • Ability to work independently. Due to the variability of events and needs of the program, projects may be given with the student having ownership on how the tasks will be completed.
