About the job:

As a Global Trademark Counsel you will serve as a trusted legal advisor responsible for protecting and enhancing Opella´s global trademark portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Trademarks, you will lead complex trademark matters across the full brand lifecycle, partnering closely with legal, commercial, regulatory, R&D, communications and external counsel teams worldwide.

This is a highly visible role requiring a combination of legal excellence, strategic thinking, commercial awareness and strong stakeholder management skills. You will play a key role in safeguarding some of Opella´s most valuable intellectual property assets while enabling business growth, innovation and brand development on a global scale.

You will be a strategic and business-focused trademark expert who can independently manage complex global matters, influence senior stakeholders, and help shape Opella´s long-term brand protection strategy. They will combine deep legal expertise with sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to enabling business growth while effectively managing risk.

Main responsibilities:

• Manage and strategically develop Opella’s global trademark portfolio.

• Partner with Marketing, Regulatory, R&D, Commercial, Security, and other business teams on trademark and domain name matters.

• Conduct and assess trademark clearance searches and provide risk-based recommendations.

• Coordinate trademark filings, oppositions, cancellations, renewals, and recordables across multiple jurisdictions.

• Manage trademark enforcement activities, including infringement matters, online brand protection, domain name issues, and anti-counterfeiting actions.

• Support mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and business development projects from an intellectual property perspective.

• Draft, review, and negotiate trademark-related agreements, including licensing, co-branding, distribution, confidentiality, and collaboration agreements.

• Develop and support intellectual property policies, brand protection processes, and trademark training and awareness programs for internal clients.

About you:

• Education: Qualified lawyer with strong academic credentials and admission to practice in at least one major EU jurisdiction.

• Experience: 4 - 8 years of relevant trademark experience gained in a leading law firm and/or multinational company (expertise in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or life‑science sector is a plus). Extensive experience managing international trademark portfolios and cross-border trademark matters.

• Skills: Strong knowledge of intellectual property law (trademarks, domain names, designs), unfair competition and procedural law. Good awareness of contract law and civil procedural law. Strong commercial mindset with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice. Appetite for creating communication supports & digitalizing the current process by leveraging AI.

• Languages: Fluency in English required; additional languages are a plus.
