GM Logistics & Inventory Control

Job Summary:

As General Manager of Logistics & Inventory Control, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for driving efficient inventory management and logistics operations. You will oversee inventory control across the organization, implement an optimized materials movement and control strategy while cultivating a culture of continuous improvement. Through close collaboration with cross-functional teams, you will help deliver best-in-class service in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

This position can be located in either Fargo, ND or Sioux Falls, SD.

Responsibilities:

Logistics & Inventory Strategy

• Develop and execute a comprehensive logistics strategy, ensuring cost-effective, scalable, and high-performance operations.
• Oversee multi-modal transportation (air, parcel, LTL, FTL, and ocean freight), optimizing carrier selection based on cost, service levels, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead inventory management across 30+ locations, driving accuracy, optimal stock levels, and efficient replenishment while minimizing excess and stockouts and maximizing customer experience.
• Define and track key performance metrics for logistics and inventory teams, driving data-driven improvements in efficiency, service levels, and cost control.
• Strengthen cross-functional collaboration with procurement, supply chain, inventory control, and internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless material movement and timely product delivery.
• Leverage analytics and business insights to optimize material flow, reduce lead times, and improve overall logistics efficiency.
• Integrate technology-driven logistics solutions, ensuring TMS, WMS, and ERP systems are effectively utilized for real-time tracking, forecasting, and automation.
• Oversee reverse logistics strategies, including RMA processing and redistribution, maximizing asset utilization.
• Ensure compliance with trade regulations, overseeing HTS classifications, tariff structure reviews, and international shipment documentation to prevent delays and mitigate risks.
• Enhance applicable vendor management and contract negotiations, holding suppliers accountable to service-level agreements, insurance standards, and contractual obligations.
• Implement strategic cost-saving measures, negotiating freight rates, analyzing spend trends, and optimizing logistics networks to drive financial efficiency.
• Develop risk mitigation frameworks, ensuring logistics contingency planning to manage disruptions, delays, and volatility in supply chains.

Leadership & Team Management

• Provide strategic direction, coaching, and performance management to leaders and their teams.
• Champion a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, and professional development.
• Develop and manage the budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high service & safety standards.
• Supply strategic guidance to leadership on team assignments, staffing optimization, and training and development plans to strengthen team readiness and operational capability.
• Remain accessible to support team members outside of standard business hours as needed.

Technology & Innovation

• Stay current with emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation across operations.
• Monitor industry trends and advancements to enhance team efficiency, safety, and operational effectiveness.

Project & Regulatory Oversight, Safety & Compliance

• Coordinate project schedules and communication across Technology, Engineering, and Field Operations to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on time
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure prompt resolution of fixed wireless network issues, including conducting root cause analyses and implementing process improvements
• Oversee all regulatory filings and recordkeeping related to towers and vertical assets, ensuring full compliance with government mandates
• Demonstrate knowledge of Midco’s safety program by enforcing safety rules and procedures, wearing appropriate safety apparel (e.g., hard hats, safety vests, OSHA-approved boots), and operating all equipment safely.
• Operate and drive a company vehicle in compliance with all Midco policies and procedures, ensuring safety, efficiency, and adherence to traffic laws. Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle to present a professional image.
• Ensure customer privacy by adhering to Midco’s privacy guidelines while actively following Midco policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8 years of progressive experience in field operations, logistics, or supply chain, with a strong focus on cross-functional project execution and process improvement.
• 5 years of leadership experience, with a proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, including wireless site development and network deployment.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective cross-functional partnerships, aligning teams around shared goals and delivering measurable results.
• Solid foundation in business operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial principles.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. A DUI conviction within the past 5 years will result in disqualification from employment in this position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of construction practices, OSHA regulations, National Electrical Code, and general safety standards
• Experience with global logistics operations, compliance, and best practices.
• Working knowledge of inventory management systems and tools, with experience managing multi-site operations.
• LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process improvement certification.
• Professional certification in supply chain or logistics (e.g., APICS CPIM/CSCP, ISM CPSM).

Work Environment:

• The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate.
• May be required to work more than 40 hours per week, including holidays, evenings, and weekends, depending on business needs.
• Requires periodic travel, up to 50% of scheduled work hours, to support business needs at various locations, including team and department support, supplier sites, and industry trade shows.

Physical Demands:

• May occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• May be required to remain in a seated position for extended periods.
• Heavy keyboard/mouse usage required with repetitive movements.
• While primarily office-based, this role requires occasional field presence. When in the field, the individual must be mindful of the environmental conditions and physical demands typical of field operations. This includes readiness to work in outdoor settings, elevated or confined spaces, and perform moderate physical tasks. The ability to safely and effectively navigate these environments is essential to support operational teams and uphold safety standards.
