[GMI] Full-stack Developer (Python and Django) - 3-month contract
Summary
Build and maintain a UK fintech web portal using Python/Django backend, Wagtail CMS, GraphQL APIs, and React/Next.js frontend.
Project – the aim you’ll have
Join a UK-based client in the investment and financial services sector as part of a team developing a modern web portal. You'll provide key development support to deliver an ambitious product roadmap, working with a collaborative team. This is a high-impact project where your technical expertise will directly contribute to shaping the platform's future and delivering value to end users.
Position – how you’ll contribute
- Develop and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Django
- Build and extend content management capabilities with Wagtail CMS
- Design and implement GraphQL APIs to power modern frontend applications
- Develop responsive, performant frontend components using React and Next.js
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Ensure high code quality through code reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices
- Contribute to the product roadmap by providing technical insights and delivery estimates
- Support continuous improvement of development workflows and DevOps practices
Expectations – the experience you need
- Strong commercial experience with Python and Django
- Hands-on experience with Wagtail CMS for content management
- Proficiency in building and consuming GraphQL APIs
- Solid experience with React and Next.js for modern frontend development
- Understanding of full-stack development principles and RESTful/GraphQL architecture
- Experience working in agile teams and delivering features iteratively
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Fluent English (written and spoken)
Additional skills – the edge you have
- Experience with Clerk for authentication and user management
- Familiarity with Vercel for deployment and hosting
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
- Experience in the financial services or investment industry
- Understanding of accessibility and web performance optimization
- Exposure to TypeScript in frontend development
