JOB PURPOSE: The bar supervisor position oversees the bar of the local property. The Supervisor assists the Manager to insure the establishment is liquor licensed and ensures the Team Members’ and patrons are in compliance with state liquor laws.

Assist qualified Pueblo of Pojoaque Tribal members in employment opportunities with the Pueblo of Pojoaque Businesses by hiring, coaching and supporting their career growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Supervises the bar operations.
• Reviews and monitors the performance of all team members.
• Enforces all department procedures and policies.
• Coordinates daily projects.
• Assist the Bar Manager on final decisions and approval of work scheduling, hiring, disciplinary actions, leave requests, and performance appraisals.
• Conducts employee training.
• May assist in conducting performance appraisals.
• Maintain and balance banks for register(s).
• Ensures a safe environment for staff and customers.
• Meets or exceeds customer service standards in the areas of food quality, presentation, and service.
• Ensures that customer requests are handled promptly and effectively.
• Enforces the Pueblo of Pojoaque liquor laws.
• Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

• Must be at least 21 years of age or older
• Knowledge of bartending practices and mixing drinks.
• Ability to handle a variety of customer requests and personalities.
• Good knowledge of supervisory and decision-making techniques.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of bar policies, procedures, and guidelines relative to sales, inventory of food products, and money-handling.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year bar experience required, 2 years preferred.
• Must be licensed through the Pueblo of Pojoaque to serve alcohol

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Standing-20% /Walking-30% /Sitting-50%; Bar/casino/office setting.
• Lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs.
• May be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Some travel required
• Exposure to some cleaning chemicals
