The Assistant Secretary for Veteran's Employment and Training (OASVET) serve as the principal adviser to the Secretary of Labor on veteran's employment issues, formulates, and implements all Departmental policies and programs designed to provide such veteran's employment and training services; protect and advance reemployment rights of veterans and members of the Armed Forces and their military spouses.
The duties described below are at the full performance level (GS-12). Incumbents hired at the GS-9 or GS-11 grade level will serve in a developmental capacity, where the incumbent works under closer supervision while continuing to exercise supervisory and managerial authority assigned for the position. - Serves as an Agency expert for Records management and administering the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) programs dispersed nationwide - Advise agency management and ensure compliance with Federal laws governing the flow of information. - Develops and implements Departmental strategies, plans, standards, and procedures to achieve Federal and/or Departmental objectives for providing the public and other government agencies with the most effective, reliable and consistent access to appropriate records and Departmental information. - Research, analyzes, and develops solutions for existing and potential problems within a variety of program areas to include Records Management and FOIA program. - Applies advanced project management principles to lead and oversee complex records management and FOIA activities involving multiple stakeholders, program offices, or organizational components.
