Graduate Process Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Graduate Engineer to join our Process Engineering team at Quantum Leap Energy. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in the nuclear fuel cycle. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will support the design, optimization, and scaling of chemical conversion and isotope separation processes. You will contribute to innovative projects while developing foundational skills in process engineering, safety, and regulatory compliance within the nuclear energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and updating of process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and basic mass/energy balances for chemical conversion and isotope-separation processes
  • Support process simulations using tools such as Aspen Plus, MATLAB, or similar under close supervision to evaluate efficiency, yield, and selectivity.
  • Participate in bench-scale and pilot-scale experiments; assist with data collection, organization, and basic analysis.
  • Support troubleshooting of process deviations and contribute to root-cause investigations as directed.
  • Help prepare technical reports, operating procedures, safety documentation, and regulatory submissions.
  • Ensure day-to-day activities comply with nuclear safety, radiation protection, and environmental requirements (comprehensive training provided).
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists, senior engineers, and operations personnel to support the integration of new technologies.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory and simulation records in accordance with NQA-1 and internal quality standards.
  • Actively participate in training programs and stay current with developments in nuclear fuel cycle and isotope-separation technologies.

Requirements

  • Washington Accord accredited Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related field (recent graduates preferred).
  • Strong academic foundation in process design principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mass/energy balances.
  • Demonstrated interest or coursework in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, MATLAB) and data analysis tools (Excel, Python, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of laboratory and chemical safety practices; prior exposure to process or energy sectors is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn, adaptability, and a strong commitment to safety and quality in a regulated industry.
