Who we are
Bluesmith is a thriving, modestly-sized Yorkshire IT company. We build data warehouses and applications for clients like Yorkshire Water, Skipton Building Society and the NHS.
What’s on offer
We’ll teach you everything about systems design, development and testing the Bluesmith way: all at your own pace, using exercises from real-world projects. You’ll get a friendly progress mentor too. At the end of your training, we’ll offer you a full-time job with a share of the company’s profits.
What the job’s like
One day you could be debugging a production API call in Node, the next building a Python microservice to handle terabyte-scale data volumes. There are no pigeon-holes at Bluesmith, our specialists form agile teams where you can be lead developer in one project, and analyst in another. You will never be moved into a new role without support from colleagues who have done it before.
Why choose Bluesmith
We're a team that learns and grows together. Everyone shares what they know, asks questions freely and helps each other do their best work. We build teams from within and most of our current seniors joined us as graduates. The systems and data you help build are used every day by organisations across Yorkshire and beyond, so you'll see the difference your work makes.
What it takes to get the job
- A degree in Computer Science or a closely related subject
- Some programming experience, in any language
- An interest in how things work and a willingness to learn
- Experience with Python, Node.js, C#, ASP.NET, MongoDB or SQL Server is a bonus, but you don't need it
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to tick every box to apply.
