Graduate Software Engineer

Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 per year

Graduate Software Engineer

Build software that helps emergency services save lives.

The software you help develop will support ambulance services, emergency communications and public safety agencies when every second counts.

At Spectrum Data Systems International (SDSI), you will work on enterprise software used by emergency service agencies across Australia and New Zealand. You will learn from experienced engineers, contribute to production systems and solve complex technical problems where reliability, performance and accuracy genuinely matter.

We are seeking ambitious recent or soon-to-be graduates to join our growing software engineering team across Brisbane, Perth and New Zealand.

What You Will Do

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you will work alongside experienced software engineers, solution architects and technical specialists to:

  • Design, develop and improve enterprise software applications.

  • Build web and mobile solutions.

  • Develop APIs and system integrations.

  • Work with databases, cloud technologies and modern development tools.

  • Participate in code reviews, testing and continuous improvement.

  • Support customer implementations, system upgrades and technical projects.

  • Investigate and solve real-world technical challenges.

  • Contribute ideas and take increasing ownership of features and projects.

You may also have opportunities to travel within Australia, New Zealand and internationally to support customer projects.

What You Will Learn

During your first years with SDSI, you will:

  • Contribute to software used in live operational environments.

  • Learn modern software engineering and DevOps practices.

  • Build experience across enterprise, cloud, web and mobile development.

  • Work with experienced engineers who will support your technical growth.

  • Develop the confidence to own features, solve complex problems and contribute to major projects.

  • Gain exposure to mission-critical public safety systems that few graduates have the opportunity to work with.

We do not expect graduates to know everything on day one. We are looking for people with curiosity, strong foundations and the determination to become exceptional engineers.

About You

You will ideally have:

  • A Bachelor's degree, or be completing your final semester, in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.

  • Experience with C#, .NET or another object-oriented programming language.

  • An understanding of SQL databases.

  • Exposure to HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

  • A genuine interest in software engineering, emerging technologies and continuous learning.

  • Current working rights in the country where you are applying.

Experience with Angular, Flutter, Azure DevOps, Git, REST APIs, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, networking or mobile application development will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

Why Join SDSI?

At SDSI, graduates are trusted with meaningful work from the beginning. You will not spend your first year watching from the sidelines. You will contribute, learn and grow as part of a supportive engineering team.

We offer:

  • Structured mentoring and professional development.

  • Exposure to enterprise-scale and mission-critical software.

  • Opportunities to work with AI, cloud, mobile and integration technologies.

  • A collaborative environment where ideas and initiative are valued.

  • Clear opportunities to grow your technical skills and responsibilities.

  • Social events, team activities and hackathons.

  • Onsite gym membership.

  • Stocked kitchen, breakfast, snacks and barista-quality coffee.

  • Paid birthday leave.

  • Up to one week of paid volunteering leave.

Apply Now

If you are ambitious, technically curious and ready to build software that makes a real difference, we would love to hear from you.

Please submit:

  • Your resume.

  • A cover letter explaining why you would like to join SDSI.

  • Your academic transcript, if available.

Tell us about a project, application or technical problem you are proud of solving. It does not need to be perfect or commercially developed. We want to understand how you think, learn and approach challenges.
