Graduate Trainee – Institutional Clients & Transaction Banking Sales
Job purpose:
The Graduate Trainee Relationship Management CC-ICTBS supports the Fl Desk Singapore/Senior Banker Asia in all relevant coverage topics.
This includes
(i) supporting the controlling and steering of the sales result and the profitability of the relevant client portfolio,
(ii) supporting the Fl Desk and RMs as being in all relevant coverage activities;
(iii) supporting the Local Client Owners (LCO) of the Fl Desk Singapore in all related LCO tasks.
The Graduate Trainee will perform rotations in 2-3 distinct areas of the bank, enabling him/her to gain abroad exposure to the bank's varied activities and functions.
The length of the Graduate program shall be a minimum of 12months, subject to a possible extension of an additional 6 months period.
Upon successful completion of the 12 months program, the Graduate Trainee will be converted to full time equivalent subject to satisfactory performance during traineeship
As core member of the coverage team for Institutional, the Graduate Trainee supports the sales oriented advisory and service of the full product palette, which is offered by the Commerzbank Group to lnstitutionals, in adherence to Commerzbank's business model (i.e. Group-wide responsibility and holistic management of the international client segment lnstitutionals).
The role includes building-up strong relationships to internal stakeholders in duding product specialists in Singapore and abroad, Representative Offices and Fl Desks in the region as well as Frankfurt based CC-ICTBS staff.
Key activities:
Support the Fl Desk Singapore in the following tasks:
- Coordination and execution of all sales activities with the client; Client requirement analysis/diagnosis; introduction of sales initiatives;
- Development and delivery of product solutions tailored to client needs together with the product specialists;
- Sales Planning, introduction and negotiation of offers with clients. This includes the creation of client specific business plans, including risk assessments and competitor benchmarks;
- Preparation, execution and follow-up of client visits incl. presentations and meeting memos;
- Independent, specialized and profit-oriented advisory and management of institutional clients, whilst adhering to relevant internal regulations of Commerzbank, as well as compliance requirements and external regulations;
- Coordination on the sales side of all credit relevant decisions in the Group; in particular business line allocation/ commentary of credit applications, gathering of credit relevant information;
- Support of product sales and sales steering activities for Fl clients, with focus on capital markets products, banking products, and treasury products.
- Support the change process with Singapore becoming a regional hub; includes acting as liaison for (i) the Singapore Fl Desk as regional Hub and the Singapore-based product owners and the local Relationship managers across Developed markets Asia (Australia, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan).
- Active elaboration and maintenance of country know-how for Commerzbank entities.
Formal education:
Degree with a quantitative finance focus (such as financial engineering, quantitative finance, financial mathematics)
Specialist knowledge (work experience, further qualification):
- Must have graduated within the past 12 months and do not have more than 1 year of professional work experience
- Fluent (native or business proficiency) in English
- Internship experience at international financial institutions and/or international consulting firms is a plus
- Basic coding experience (VBA and/or Python) is a plus
