Grain Rail Terminal Location Manager
The Grain Rail Terminal Location Manager will direct, promote, and coordinate the location in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the cooperative’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service. You will be responsible for managing all employees at the facility while maintaining operations, safety, and customer service to represent the Garden City Co-op.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a grain storage facility is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The grain rail terminal location manager’s responsibilities involve supervision, reporting, grain handling and management, rail car loading and unloading, safety and maintenance, service, and other duties as assigned by the area grain supervisor.
- The grain rail terminal location manager will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the cooperative and presents a favorable image of the cooperative.
- Conducting required safety training, as requested, and completing documentation.
- Supervise and scheduling of employees to facilitate loading or unloading of railcars.
- Communicating in a positive and professional manner with the Railroad and Grain Inspectors.
- Gain operational knowledge of railroads, railroad equipment, and grain terminal facility.
- Receive and ship grain efficiently using the available staff and your abilities.
- Meet and operate under tight time frames, moving in and out rail cars as safely and efficiently as possible.
SKILLS AND CERTIFICATION
- Knowledge of grain grading and grain quality
- Valid Driver license
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfortable using and adapting to new technology.
- Ability to obtain necessary qualifications required by railroad.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone, text, email, or written documents.
- Maintaining and promoting a positive atmosphere among employees

SUPERVISION
Supervision involves training personnel, communicating to employees, helping staff the location, delegating workload, support employee growth and teamwork, and uphold cooperative policies.
- Help staff and adjust work force to fit needs with a minimum of unproductive labor costs.
- Maintain a regular maintenance, housekeeping, and safety training schedule for the facility, equipment, and employees.
- Will be responsible for everyone’s safety during rail loading and unloading operations. Must be comfortable shutting down operations if unsafe situations arise.
- Ensure that employees uphold all cooperative policies.
REPORTING
Reporting involves communicating to management storage space availability, operations, grain condition, and any problems that may require additional help.
