Grants Management Specialist (52028)

Summary

Manages NIH grant awards by reviewing applications, ensuring compliance with policies, and maintaining official grant files for the National Institute of General Medical Sciences.

Position Objective: The Grants Management Specialist will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of General Medical Sciences within the National Institutes of Health. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance with pre- and post-award activities, including the preparation of grant awards.
  • Assess grant applications to ascertain the allowability, allocability, reasonableness and consistency of recommended costs.
  • Respond to inquiries concerning grants management policies and procedures, status of individual awards, on a one-on-one basis.
  • Provide communication with NIH/NIGMS Program staff and NIGMS grantees.
  • Keep abreast of current and new NIH policies and procedures affecting the smooth operation of the Division of Extramural Activities, NIGMS.
  • Maintain official grant file(s); prepare electronic documents (convert to “PDF” images); upload images directly into the appropriate IMPAC II eAdditions file groups.
  • Interpret and apply business management policies, procedures and practices to grants related situations.
  • Work products and documents related to providing assistance with pre- and post- award activities, including preparing grant awards; respond to inquiries concerning grants management policies and procedures, status of individual awards; provide communication with NIH/NIGMS Program staff and NIGMS grantees.
  • Work products and documents related to maintaining official grant files; prepare electronic documents; convert to “PDF” images; upload images into the appropriate IMPAC eAdditions file groups.
