This is a part-time (20 hours/week), position with expected hours to be worked during business hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Design and Production Manager, the Graphic Designer is responsible for developing creative solutions that support ASI programs, services, and events. This role goes beyond executing individual pieces and includes contributing to full campaigns across print and digital platforms, including posters, social media, web graphics, signage, and environmental displays.

This is a hands-on, team-oriented role within a fast-paced, student-driven studio, where designers are expected to take initiative, contribute to creative discussions, and support both the conceptual and production sides of design work.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design and produce creative assets for print and digital platforms by collaborating with campus partners, and internal team members
  • Conceptualize, interpret project requests, and pitch cohesive marketing campaigns that align with ASI branding and connect with student audience• Produce in-house printed materials, including displays and vinyl signage
  • Apply and maintain ASI brand standards across all deliverables
  • Adapt designs based on direction, on-going feedback, and project goals
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining consistency and quality
  • Demonstrate a willingness to receive, apply, adapt, and iterate on creative feedback
  • Contribute creative ideas and take initiative throughout the design process
  • Approach projects with a problem-solving mindset
  • Understand audience targeting, visual hierarchy, and effective communication strategies
  • Utilize project management tools and follow established workflows
  • Support studio operations and complete other duties as assigned

Customer Service & Collaboration:

  • Provide quality, professional, friendly, and courteous customer service to students, ASI departments, and professional staff
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to a positive, supportive studio environment • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing• Present and explain design concepts to non-designers when needed

Safety:

Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately

Requirements:

Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing
Minimum 2 years of experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
Must have skills in graphic art (layout, typography, color theory, etc)
Must be able to present a portfolio or examples of graphic artwork for review

Work Environment:

Pick-ups and deliveries are the responsibility of the graphic design team. Students may at times be sent to campus locations to pick up and deliver printed assets back in ASI buildings (Titan Student Union, Student Recreation Center, Children’s Center and any future locations that house ASI students and staff.
Studio work for the student designer will include printing and mounting artwork (using a heated roller or spray adhesive) as well as trimming and cutting paper and foam core with sharp blades. Gloves, masks, and glasses are always available.
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking around campus.
There are no hazardous or unpleasant work conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
Work is generally performed in an office environment, with standard office equipment available

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift, lower, push and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-35 lbs
Must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-35 lbs for distances up to 20ft
Students designers are at times responsible for installing physical posters/artwork in ASI buildings. On occasion step stools are needed.
