Position Summary

Hallbrook Country Club is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Greenskeeper II. The Greenskeeper performs manual labor associated with the maintenance and upkeep of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This position is responsible for maintaining exceptional playing conditions through daily course maintenance, equipment operation, and other assigned duties as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent or management team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily golf course setup, including changing hole locations and preparing tee boxes for play while considering turf health, pace of play, and member satisfaction.
  • Assist in maintaining optimal putting green conditions by topdressing, plugging, hand watering, mowing, rolling, and performing other cultural practices as directed.
  • Safely operate heavy equipment, including loaders, dump trucks, skid steers, backhoes, tractors, and other implements.
  • Operate riding mowers to maintain fairways, roughs, native areas, greens, approaches, and other turf areas.
  • Operate hand-held equipment, including walk mowers, string trimmers, edgers, blowers, chainsaws, and other landscape maintenance equipment.
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other turf care products under the direction and supervision of management and in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Assist with course improvement projects, including aerification, irrigation repairs, drainage work, construction projects, and other seasonal maintenance activities.
  • Maintain clubhouse grounds by mowing, pruning, planting, blowing debris, and performing general landscape maintenance.

  • Prepare and maintain on-course amenities by cleaning restrooms, removing trash, replenishing water coolers and cups, and monitoring inventory levels.
  • Maintain golf course bunkers by mowing and edging surrounding turf, hand and machine raking bunkers, and ensuring proper sand depth and playing conditions.
  • Maintain landscaped and non-turf areas by removing debris, trimming vegetation, edging mulch beds, and maintaining cart paths.
  • Perform non-mowing turf maintenance, including filling divots, edging sprinkler heads and valve boxes, and maintaining course accessories and fixtures.
  • Follow all safety procedures and properly maintain assigned equipment and tools.
  • Assist with other duties and special projects as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent or other members of the management team.

Qualifications

  • Previous golf course maintenance, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate golf course maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Basic knowledge of turfgrass maintenance practices preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality course conditions.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed based on seasonal and operational demands.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, reach, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday.
  • Perform physically demanding manual labor for extended periods.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and direct sunlight.

  • Ability to work around machinery, chemicals, fertilizers, pesticides, uneven terrain, and other conditions commonly associated with golf course maintenance.
  • Ability to safely operate motorized equipment and hand tools while maintaining awareness of surroundings.
