Groundskeeper Lead

General Responsibilities

The Groundskeeper Lead reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities and supervises the Grounds staff while performing regular groundskeeping duties. This position is responsible for maintaining the safety and appearance of campus lawns, landscaped areas, planters, and irrigation systems.

Specific Responsibilities

• Oversees, schedules, and assigns daily work to the Grounds staff
• Trains staff in the safe and proper use of groundskeeping equipment
• Mows and edges lawns; trims shrubs; pulls weeds; and maintains landscaped areas and planters
• Maintains and performs minor repairs to irrigation systems
• Keeps gutters, downspouts, drain grates, and outdoor areas clear of debris
• Ensures staff use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow safety procedures
• Assists with campus event setups, tear-downs, and other Facilities projects
• Reports maintenance and safety concerns to the Assistant Director of Facilities
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. The position regularly requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders and stairs, and lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
