Group Communications Manager

This is a strategic and hands-on role, working closely with the Group Communications Director and cross-functional teams across regions.

Is responsible for shaping MET’s narrative, ensuring consistency across channels, and managing everything from media relations to internal engagement and crisis communications. The role requires being fluent in storytelling, comfortable working with top executives, and thriving in a fast-moving, international environment.

Group level tasks:

  • Support the Group Communications Director with developing and executing strategic communications plans aligned with MET’s goals
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and external communications activities across regions and business units
  • Content management and content creation: craft high-quality content, such as press releases, website magazine stories, executive messaging, internal updates, speeches, presentations, and more
  • Oversee corporate messaging across all channels and ensure consistency in tone, style, and branding
  • Organize and support internal and external events, including speaking engagements and conferences
  • Manage MET participation in third-party events, conferences, and speaking opportunities
  • Manage media relations, including proactive press outreach and reactive communications, and positioning of MET managers and experts
  • Manage international PR agencies and communications colleagues in 20+ countries
  • Play a key role in crisis preparedness and reputation management
  • Assume project lead for various key projects in the Group communications team
  • Strengthen employee engagement with clear, timely, and inspiring internal communications
  • Work closely with senior leadership, HR, marketing, regional teams, and external agencies

Specific tasks related to the Hungarian market:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key Hungarian media, journalists, editors and industry influencers.
  • Serve as the primary communications contact and local spokesperson for the company in Hungary, in close alignment with the Group Communications team.
  • Identify and proactively develop local media opportunities that support business and corporate reputation objectives.
  • Provide strategic counsel on the Hungarian media landscape and stakeholder environment, identifying risks, opportunities and emerging issues.
  • Prepare executives and subject matter experts for media engagements, interviews and public appearances.
  • Monitor the local media environment and public discourse, providing insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the other members of the Group Communications team to ensure consistent messaging while adapting communications to the Hungarian market.
  • 12-15 years of experience in corporate or group communications, gained in an international environment from a regulated sector, energy industry background is highly appreciated
  • Master degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing
  • Excellent skills in English and Hungarian; other European languages (especially German, French, Spanish, or Italian) are a plus
  • Excellent writing, editing, and content development skills
  • Experience managing communications campaigns across markets and stakeholder groups
  • A collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills, including C-suite stakeholder engagement
  • Strategic thinking and crisis communication experience are highly valued
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining relationships with Hungarian business and national media
  • Strong existing network of journalist and editor contacts across the Hungarian media landscape
  • Excellent understanding of the Hungarian media environment and the broader stakeholder landscape
  • Brings a strategic perspective to communications by understanding the interconnected stakeholder ecosystem and anticipating how messages and business decisions may be perceived by different audiences
