Group Director, Category General Manager, Marketplace

Shopper/Customer Experience: Provides strategic advice and guidance to Category Managers regarding online presence for highly complex categories; Recommends enhancements based on industry and organizational knowledge and best practices.
Provides overall direction by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.
Market Positioning and Analytics: Directs the analysis of key market and product positioning information for a highly complex category and builds expertise across retailer/brand dynamics, shopper requirements, competitor site benchmarking, etc.; Reviews and develops plans for category success based on analysis; Determines category assortment and strategy/market positioning across multiple websites and drives continuous improvement through strategic partnerships with retailers and brands; Advises on best way to optimize product sourcing mix. Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
Category Financials: Builds a data-driven strategic business plan with tangible execution steps for a highly complex category; Develops and communicates budgets; Manages P&L for business area or category; Maintains overall responsibility for meeting financial targets (e.g. GMV and margin) and communicating (and ensuring the team executes upon) levers to achieve those targets.
Cultivates an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
Category Tracking/Monitoring: Provides guidance and strategic direction regarding tracking and monitoring of multiple sites for a highly complex category based on broad industry and organizational knowledge; Maintains overall accountability for category performance across multiple sites.
Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives; engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
Strategic Visioning: Develops comprehensive category strategy for a highly complex category to drive growth of the business or category; Translates vision and strategy into action to motivate and inspire own team (including Category Managers) to drive key levers impacting category excellence.
Business Relationships: Own the executive relationship with U.S. Marketplace HQ & Merch; act as the single senior voice for China category insight and the top escalation point. Manages relationships with key strategic sellers for a highly complex category; Negotiates product volumes, costs, and terms with vendors for a highly complex category; Develops and leverages internal and external partnerships and networks to maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key initiatives; Engages key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives; supports associate efforts in these areas.
Collaboration: Collaborates with product teams to establish the site as a best-in-class leader within its product categories for a highly complex category; Partners with merchants to determine how to expand category through existing vendor relationships; Coordinates with brick and mortar store representatives and merchants who own Walmart US relationship for products in a category with high complexity to drive sales and margin growth through the omni-channel.
People Development: Ensures associates are receiving learning and development opportunities (e.g. training, mentoring) for the good of the associate and Walmart; Coaches team members and provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge and work performance; Mentors Category Managers and less experienced associates.
Empowering Others: Supports a favorable environment in a highly complex category in which managers are empowered to lead and execute on the category's strategy and objectives.
Change Leadership: Creates momentum and excitement for change by communicating the business necessity and benefits of change with the organization.

Entry Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, retail or related field and 8 years’ experience in category management, pricing, site merchandising, planning or
inventory planning or related area OR 10 years of experience in business, retail, category management, pricing, site merchandising, planning or
inventory planning or related area
Preferred Qualifications
6 years supervisory experience
