The Group HR Manager – Operations at Thomas Foods International (TFI) is pivotal in ensuring HR operating excellence across multiple nationwide locations. This role partners with local HR Managers to implement solutions across a range of human resource functions and people management activities and HR processes. This role focuses on day to day HR operations and acts as a change agent, fostering an environment of continuous improvement. By leveraging data insights and aligning HR initiatives with strategic business objectives, the HR Manager - Operations will drive transformative change in workforce capability, operational efficiency, and organisational compliance.
Reporting to the Group GM HR, the HR Manager – Operations works closely with the GM Operations, to:
CORE FUNCTIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
People and Team Leadership
- Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
- Personal leadership that appropriately motivates and supports the team to carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
- Demonstrate organisational leadership behaviours and embracing the TFI values.
- Mentor and develop the HR Team by managing and structuring of work, training and capability development.
- Champion and support the performance management, development and mentoring of the team members, and sure effective performance management, performance feedback and recognition.
- Provide practical day to day coaching, guidance and development to the leadership teams across the business.
- Establish effective team through sourcing and retaining high calibre employees,
Strategy, Systems and Processes
- Assist the Group GM HR in the development of HR and recruitment strategies that aligns with and meets business objectives.
- Translating business plans into HR operational services to address issues and trends impacting the business.
- Develop and deliver HR metrics, including turnover, employee satisfaction, payroll costs, and compliance audits. to monitor company performance and satisfy statutory requirements.
- Lead and drive the execution of national HR processes and systems, ensuring consistency across all locations.
- Utilise data analytics to provide insights and recommendations to leadership teams on operational efficiencies and employee trends.
General HR Responsibilities
- Manage the HR budget and report on monthly deviations.
- Working with the Communications team , create high quality, fit for purpose, internal communications practice that enable clear definition and reinforcement of important priorities and the way the business needs to work, including TFI values and behaviours to be successful.
- Working with the Manager ER and GM Operations, ensure employee relations at site are productive and effective.
LEADERSHIP CAPABILITIES
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence HR Teams across multiple sites, fostering an environment of accountability and continuous improvement.
Safety and Well-Being: Complies with TFI WHS&IM policies and procedures and any reasonable instruction given by TFI to comply with the WHS Act, Regulations and Codes of Practice, the RTW Act and the Code of Conduct. Takes responsible care for own health, safety and well-being.
Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with stakeholders at all levels. Effective listening skills.
Data-Driven: Skilled in using HR Analytics to inform decision-making, improve workforce trends, and optimise operational efficiency.
Compliance & Adaptability: Strong knowledge of HR compliance, with the capacity to navigate complex regulatory environments while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Commerce or Psychology
· 10+ years of HR Experience with at least 3 years in leadership roles
· Industry Affiliations desirable but not essential
WORKING CONDITIONS
· Intra-state and interstate travel is required.
· A valid driver’s licence is required.
