GSP Construction Manager (Gen)

Pay 82-86 per hour
Per Diem and MOB Available
The Construction Manager will lead and manage the execution of assigned projects in the field, providing construction oversight and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract specifications, schedules, quality requirements, and company standards.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working at major power plants and with power generation equipment, including turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, electrical/instrumentation systems, operations, and other balance-of-plant systems. This position requires a highly motivated individual who can work independently, communicate effectively, manage multiple projects, and maintain a strong physical presence in the field.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the field execution of assigned construction projects.
- Ensure Safety and Environmental Compliance remain the primary focus for all personnel supporting assigned projects.
- Maintain awareness of construction activities and scheduled work windows and resolve conflicts as they arise.
- Maintain a physical presence at the job site for at least 80% of the duration of the project.
- Perform site construction oversight inspections to monitor the quality of work and materials provided by vendors and subcontractors.
- Inspect construction work for compliance with contract specifications, regulatory requirements, applicable codes, and company standards.
- Verify that Dominion receives the products and services specified in purchase orders and that they will perform as required.
- Understand project Scope of Work (SOW) and ensure suppliers execute work in accordance with the SOW, Dominion specifications, and applicable standards.
- Identify and report deviations from contract specifications, approved materials, or project requirements to the Project Manager.
- Prepare quality inspection reports and provide project status updates to management as requested or required.
- Communicate project issues and concerns to contractors, engineers, safety personnel, and management.
- Understand and enforce Dominion Supplemental Terms & Conditions, including applicable Safety and Environmental Compliance requirements.
- Coordinate construction activities, equipment utilization, work sequencing, and schedules to support project deadlines.
- Manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
- Support problem resolution and make sound decisions related to field construction activities.
- 7+ years of industry experience in construction, engineering, and/or management.
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated construction management experience.
- Working knowledge of power generation and pollution control equipment.
- Experience with major power plant equipment, including turbines, generators, pumps, motors, control systems, electrical/instrumentation, operations, and balance-of-plant systems.
- General knowledge of construction and operational field work practices, equipment utilization, and work scheduling.
- Strong planning, organization, prioritization, and scheduling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple distinct projects simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to compare construction specifications and material requirements against physical work and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, instructions, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to prepare concise and accurate written reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with OSHA scaffolding requirements and industry safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively with management, contractors, engineers, safety personnel, and coworkers.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive as required.
- Minimum High School Diploma required.
Candidates must be able to qualify for and perform work in a power generation field environment, including:
- Working in confined spaces.
- Climbing stairs, ladders, and other access structures.
- Wearing a respirator when required.
- Walking and standing for extended periods.
- Maintaining a significant physical presence at active construction sites.
- Working around operating power plant equipment and construction activities.
