Somerset Hills YMCA is looking for welcoming, natural relationship builders who are also safety oriented to be Gymnasium Supervisors in our Evening and Weekend shifts. This role is responsible for engaging, mentoring, and supervising teen and young adult members using the Y's approach to Youth Development and upholding the integrity of our "member first culture" by role modeling exceptional practice of the YMCA's core values and safety expectations. This person must be able to guide young people through conflict resolution and make sure that everyone follows safety standards and policies of the YMCA.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for maintaining safety and positive relationship building between members within our gymnasium.
  • Role models the YMCA's core values at all times as the "Role Model on Duty" and oftentimes teaches young people the importance of good character.
  • Helps to facilitate basketball and other sports programming (may act loosely as a referee).
  • Facilitates a culture that champions tolerance and acceptance of all backgrounds and dimensions of diversity.
  • Acts to prevent and address any instances of bullying, harassment, or intimidation.
  • Responsible for addressing all member concerns as the "first point of contact". Be solution oriented to provide alternatives and create a positive outcome. Document concerns and solutions provided with branch leadership.
  • Engaging members and building relationships throughout shift.
  • Responsible for completing an end of shift report and submitting electronically to the Sports Coordinator.
