Mountain Recreation is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated entry level Gymnastics Coach to join our team! This entry-level position is ideal for someone passionate about teaching and inspiring young athletes in a positive, fun environment. Gymnastics Coach I assist in planning and leading beginner gymnastics classes, focusing on safety, skill-building, and confidence. Mountain Recreation is seeking someone who is energetic, has a love for fitness, and is excited to make a positive impact in the community.

POSITION DETAILS
Job Title: Gymnastics Coach I
Location: Edwards Field House (Edwards, CO) and Gypsum Recreation Center (Gypsum, CO)
Employment Type: Part-Time, Year-Round
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)
Schedule: Hours and schedule very dependent on program needs and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Supervision Required: Works under the supervision of the Gymnastics Coordinators and Gymnastics Supervisor
Supervision Exercised: None
Work Environment and Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, which may include standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing for extended periods; lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds; providing gymnastics spotting for participants up to 175 pounds; climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, or squatting as needed; and using hands to handle equipment or tools. The majority of work is performed indoors in an active gymnastics environment with normal to loud noise levels.

Salary: $18.49 – $23.11/hour DOE. Staff in this position are eligible for a $1/hour incentive for Spanish/English bilingual skills upon passing a language competency test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
General Statement of Duties: Responsible for delivering high-quality instructional coaching to program participants in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Must be able to demonstrate fundamental skills, effectively communicate with children, and foster skill development, confidence, and a positive learning experience.
Examples of Duties:
- Assist gymnastics classes and programs in creating a fun, engaging, and positive learning environment.
- Provide on-site supervision to support program leaders and ensure smooth class operations.
- Maintain appropriate behavior of participants and report behavioral concerns to the supervisor when necessary.
- Adheres to all scheduled practices and arrive on time.
- Promote safety by clearly communicating and enforcing gymnastics center rules, policies, and guidelines appropriate to participants’ comprehension levels.
- Maintain a professional attitude, demeanor, and appearance at all times.
- Perform physical tasks required by the position, including spotting, demonstrating skills, and properly setting up and breaking down equipment.
- Use correct spotting techniques to ensure the safety of all participants.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free environment; promptly report unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
- Communicate any concerns, repair needs, or incidents requiring follow-up to the supervisor, and respond courteously to participant questions.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of facilities and equipment and perform general cleaning as assigned.
- Respond to accidents and incidents according to established procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
