Half-day Bookkeeper

Working from 08h00 to 13h30 in an office-based environment, this half-day permanent position plays an essential role in maintaining accurate financial records up to trial balance level. Reporting directly to the Managing Director.
The focus of this position is on delivering efficient, precise, and independent bookkeeping management. The successful candidate will ensure full ledger integrity, trial balance preparation ready for Annual Financial Statement compiling, and seamless statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complete bookkeeping functions up to trial balance utilising Sage Pastel Partner Accounting.
- Post and accurately reconcile all bank transactions and petty cash accounts.
- Prepare and reconcile debtors and creditors accounts.
- Maintain and update accurate fixed asset registers.
- Prepare and balance regular bank reconciliations.
- Ensure strict adherence to statutory VAT regulations.
- Prepare and submit VAT and PAYE returns via SARS e-filing.
- Prepare and submit COIDA returns.
- Process monthly payroll using Pastel Payroll.
- Handle SARS registrations and update company details as required.
- File CIPC annual returns and handle beneficial ownership reporting.
Requirements
Essential Requirements:
- Recently qualified degree or diploma in the accounting field OR a minimum of 3 years of relevant bookkeeping experience.
- Proven proficiency in Sage Pastel Partner Accounting software.
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, and accurately.
- Capability to process and reconcile balance sheet accounts up to trial balance ready for AFS preparation.
