HANDBACK ENGINEER
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate track handback activities following railway trackwork renewal, maintenance and related works.
- Inspect completed trackwork and verify that the required work, inspections and testing have been satisfactorily completed before handback.
- Assess track conditions and confirm that the completed track is safe and fit for its intended railway operation.
- Identify outstanding defects, non-conformities or safety concerns and coordinate with the relevant teams to ensure rectification before handback.
- Certify completed trackwork and confirm its readiness for the safe commencement of train operations after each work shift.
- Attend the Operator's toolbox meetings and communicate relevant handback status, safety matters and outstanding issues.
- Review and complete relevant inspection, testing, handback and certification records.
- Coordinate closely with Trackwork, Engineering, Construction, Safety and Operations teams to ensure all handback requirements are fulfilled.
- Support railway possession, night works and other trackwork activities where handback inspection and certification is required.
- Ensure handback activities comply with applicable railway standards, project procedures and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience performing the role of a Handback Engineer in railway trackwork renewal, preferably in metro railway operations.
- Must possess a recognised Handback Engineer qualification/certification.
- Must hold a valid/recent UK Network Rail Handback Engineer re-qualification/re-certification, with competency for line speeds of up to 90 km/h.
- Experience in railway trackwork, possession and handback activities.
- Experience in LTA railway projects will be an advantage
