Discussion

Summary

Inferscience, a formation-stage healthcare startup led by a physician founder, seeks a hands-on technical cofounder/founding engineer to build an MVP for referral workflow automation on top of EHRs and adjacent systems, using EHR/FHIR/HL7 integrations, browser automation (Playwright/Selenium), and pragmatic applied AI/LLM. Offers $50k–$100k plus 10–25% equity.

Compensation: $50k – $100k • 10.0% – 25.0%

I am building a new healthcare workflow automation company focused on reducing repetitive administrative and clinical work inside provider practices. The vision is to build a workflow automation layer over the EHR and adjacent systems that can eventually support multiple use cases including referrals, refill requests, lab review, document management, prior authorization support, and other high-volume practice workflows. I am a physician and healthcare SaaS founder with deep experience in provider workflows, EHR integrations, risk adjustment, and selling software to provider organizations. I have existing relationships with provider groups and am currently speaking with potential design partners for this new company. I am looking for a hands-on technical cofounder or founding engineer who can help take this from concept to first pilot. **What You’ll Do** Help define and build the first MVP around referral workflow automation. Design the technical foundation for future EHR workflow automation use cases. Work through EHR data access, APIs, browser/UI automation, workflow state, auditability, and human-in-the-loop review. Build hands-on in the early phase and help guide additional engineering resources. Work directly with design partners to translate real workflow pain into product. **Ideal Background** You may be a strong fit if you have experience with: * healthcare SaaS, EHR integrations, FHIR/HL7, or regulated data environments; * building production software from scratch; * workflow automation, browser automation, RPA, Playwright/Selenium, or similar tools; * data modeling, APIs, system architecture, and reliable integrations; * applied AI/LLM systems used pragmatically in real products. Healthcare technology experience is **required**. Strong systems thinking, hands-on execution, and comfort with messy real-world workflows are essential. **Stage / Compensation** This is an early formation-stage opportunity. Compensation will depend on stage, time commitment, and mutual fit. I am open to starting with a paid 60–90 day working engagement before finalizing a long-term cofounder arrangement. Full-time salary would likely be modest initially and tied to funding or early revenue, with meaningful equity for the right technical cofounder. **What I’m Looking For** A pragmatic, **hands-on** technical partner who can move fast but also understands the difference between a demo and a reliable product. This is not an advisor-only role and not a generic AI chatbot project. The right person should be excited to build a serious workflow product in a complex but high-value healthcare market. **Please read before applying** I am looking for thoughtful, specific responses that reflect your own experience and reasoning. Generic AI-generated answers are easy to spot and will not be considered.
