Position Summary

The engineering co-op student will work alongside, and in support of, R&D hardware and systems engineering teams. The engineering teams are a diverse, collaborative group working on the support and/or development of medical devices; the devices are used to automate in-vitro diagnostics typically found in a microbiology lab. The engineering co-op student will be supervised and mentored by the Directors, Managers, and Sr. Engineers in the engineering team of Systems Development.

Primary Duties

  • Project Activities: This position will include creation and execution of verification tests, troubleshooting and evaluating instrument and system issues and design alternatives, and supporting engineering evaluations and feasibility efforts.
  • Design and Development Process: The co-op will be given the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of the bioMérieux Design Control Process that addresses US and international regulatory requirements, as well as internal Quality requirements.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Training and Experience

  • Specific Field, Function, or Specialization: At least 1 year of degree program completed (Related life sciences, engineering, or microbiology program. (Biomedical engineering preferred).
  • Must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS Program in a related life sciences, computer science, data science, or microbiology program.
  • To qualify for this Co-Op position, candidates must be actively enrolled in a participating university's formal Co-Op Program and meet all university requirements necessary to receive academic co-op credit. This includes enrollment in any required co-op course, program, or approval process established by the university. Students are responsible for maintaining eligibility and obtaining all required university approvals throughout the duration of the assignment.
  • Must be enrolled in a formal cooperative education (co-op) program at Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) or the University of Missouri (Mizzou).
