Hardware Integration and Development Engineer
Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 Alpha - our rapidly developed humanoid platform now running in real industrial pilots - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
About the Role
We're looking for a Hardware Integration and Development Engineer to bring up, integrate and validate the electronics behind the end effectors on our robots and the human-worn devices operators use to interface with them. You'll focus on getting hardware working reliably end-to-end — integrating sensors, compute platforms and PCBAs, debugging issues at the boundary of electrical, mechanical and firmware, and supporting test and validation — in a high-paced environment where priorities shift fast.
What You'll Do
Bring Up New Hardware: Bring up new PCB/PCBA revisions — reviewing schematics, checking power rails, and debugging with an oscilloscope and logic analyzer.
Integrate Sensors & Platforms: Integrate sensors, encoders, cameras and IMUs with compute platforms such as ESP32, Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson into working hardware assemblies.
Validate Communication Interfaces: Verify and debug communication interfaces between subsystems, including I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB, CAN, EtherCAT and MIPI.
Own Calibration & Diagnostics: Develop and run calibration routines, diagnostic tooling and fault/status checks across integrated hardware.
Support Component Selection: Help evaluate and select sensors, MCUs and other hardware building blocks alongside electrical and mechanical engineers.
Cross-Discipline Debugging: Resolve integration issues that span firmware, electrical and mechanical, working closely with all three teams.
Support Test & Validation: Support hardware test rigs, trials and validation activities, providing hands-on troubleshooting.
Document Interfaces: Document hardware interfaces, bring-up procedures and known issues clearly for other engineers to build against.
What We're Looking For
Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or a related field, with 4+ years' experience in hardware integration, bring-up or embedded systems roles.
FPGA experience is required.
Hands-on experience integrating and debugging sensors, encoders, cameras and compute platforms such as ESP32, Raspberry Pi or NVIDIA Jetson.
Solid understanding of communication and sensor interfaces: I2C, SPI, MIPI, UART, Ethernet, USB, CAN and EtherCAT.
Strong hardware debugging skills — oscilloscope, logic analyzer, JTAG/SWD — and comfort bringing up new PCB/PCBA revisions.
Experience developing calibration routines and supporting hardware test/validation activities.
Comfortable working across firmware, electrical and mechanical boundaries in a high-paced environment.
Nice to have
Basic embedded firmware or scripting experience for tooling and diagnostics
Experience working with formally defined hardware interfaces/contracts shared across teams
Experience in a robotics or hardware startup environment
