Hardware-Sales Associate

Ebels Hardware in Falmouth is looking for a Part-Time Hardware Sales Associate to provide friendly, knowledgeable, and dependable service to customers while supporting the daily operation of the hardware store. This position assists customers with locating products, answering questions, making appropriate product recommendations, stocking merchandise, maintaining clean and organized sales areas, and completing sales transactions when assigned. The Sales Associate should be approachable, dependable, and willing to learn about hardware, tools, plumbing, electrical, lawn and garden, paint, outdoor power equipment, fasteners, and other store products. This individual must be comfortable working with customers, following safety procedures, and assisting wherever needed throughout the store. The ideal candidate enjoys helping people, works well as part of a team, and takes pride in maintaining a welcoming and professional shopping environment.

Compensation for this position ranges from $15.00 to $17.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greet customers promptly, provide friendly and professional assistance, understand their project or product needs, and direct them to the appropriate department, product, or Team Member.
• Receive, unpack, price, stock, and organize merchandise according to company procedures; maintain accurate shelf labels, rotate products as needed, and keep displays full, clean, and easy to shop.
• Assist with seasonal displays, promotional endcaps, product merchandising, and returning misplaced merchandise to the proper locations.
• Monitor inventory by identifying low stock, damaged or missing merchandise, pricing issues, and inventory discrepancies; assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, and proper processing of sales, returns, transfers, and damaged items.
• Assist customers with store services as trained, including key cutting, paint mixing, measuring and cutting approved materials, preparing and loading pickup orders, equipment rental or repair intake, special orders, and delivery or service information.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe aisles, counters, displays, entrances, walkways, and work areas; remove debris and clutter, return carts and equipment, and report damaged fixtures or safety concerns.
• Follow safe lifting and equipment procedures and use approved ladders, carts, and stocking equipment appropriately.
• Report suspected theft, fraud, inventory loss, damaged merchandise, and other concerns to management without confronting individuals.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support store operations and provide an excellent customer experience.

• Meet the company’s minimum age requirements and have a friendly, respectful, customer-focused attitude with strong communication and listening skills.
• Willingness to learn about hardware products, store services, and customer projects; previous hardware experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
• Ability to perform basic math, accurately process transactions, and use or learn POS systems, handheld devices, and basic computer programs.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while assisting customers and supporting multiple areas of the store.
• Basic knowledge or experience with hardware, tools, building materials, lawn and garden, inventory, stocking, or customer service is preferred.
• Availability to work some evenings, Saturdays, and occasional holidays.
• Ability to regularly stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, twist, crouch, climb, push, and pull.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
