Head Chef

Role Purpose Oversee, lead, improve, and monitor the daily operations of the Kitchen Department while supervising the culinary team. This role ensures the highest quality of service, strict adherence to company standards, and optimal departmental cost-effectiveness through strategic resource utilization.


Key Responsibilities

1. Operational & Culinary Excellence

  • Establish and maintain efficient, standardized kitchen operations in strict accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen and dining areas at all times.
  • Develop standard recipes and innovative techniques for food preparation and presentation.
  • Cook or directly supervise the preparation of culinary items requiring highly skillful execution.
  • Implement and manage a rigorous first-in, first-out (FIFO) food rotation system, verifying that all products are properly dated and organized.
  • Evaluate products, vendors, and ingredients to ensure quality, price, and specifications are consistently met.
  • Collaborate closely with Support Staff and the Nursing team to coordinate special dietary requests and custom meals for sick clients.
  • Handle customer complaints smoothly and implement immediate, effective service recovery measures.

2. Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Prioritize, plan, schedule, and assign tasks to kitchen staff to optimize daily workflow and guarantee seamless service delivery.
  • Draw up equitable staff shift rosters while closely monitoring attendance, leave, and absence reports.
  • Coach, counsel, guide, and mentor kitchen staff to foster a positive, high-performance team culture.
  • Design and execute ongoing training programs to elevate staff skill levels.
  • Conduct structured performance appraisals for all kitchen personnel.
  • Monitor staff presentation to ensure grooming remains impeccable and compliant with hospitality standards at all times.
  • Promote an proactive safety culture, ensuring a secure working environment across all areas of responsibility.

3. Administration & Financial Control

  • Manage departmental expenses, forecast upcoming needs, review purchase orders, and tightly control food and supply costs.
  • Establish strict internal controls to minimize food waste, supply loss, and theft.
  • Plan nutritious, balanced menus tailored to client and member requirements.
  • Partner with the Head of Operations & Facilities to develop, update, and implement cutting-edge quality assurance policies and terminology.
  • Prepare and submit accurate operational reports as required by the Head of Operations.
