Job Overview

Xuan Sports and Wellness Pte. Ltd. is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head Coach, Wushu (Senior Manager) to lead our Wushu division. This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing coaching standards, programme development, coach supervision, athlete development, operational management, and business performance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining coaching excellence across our academy and school programmes while supporting the organisation's strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of Wushu and Taiji programmes for students of different ages and abilities.
  • Coach students for recreational, competitive and high-performance pathways.
  • Plan annual training programmes and athlete development pathways.
  • Ensure high coaching standards across all academy and school-based programmes.
  • Mentor and supervise junior coaches and conduct regular coaching evaluations.
  • Develop lesson plans and technical resources for coaching staff.

Competition Preparation

  • Prepare athletes for local and international competitions.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge of the current Wushu and Taiji competition routines, including those contested in the Singapore National School Games.
  • Plan competition schedules, selection criteria and training camps.
  • Coordinate logistics and coach deployment during competitions.

Operations & Administration

  • Manage daily coaching operations across multiple training venues.
  • Prepare reports, schedules, coach deployment plans and programme documentation.
  • Liaise with schools, parents, external organisations and relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies and safety procedures.

Business Development & Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise coaching staff to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Guide junior staff in achieving monthly enrolment and sales targets.
  • Identify opportunities to grow programmes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support marketing, outreach activities and community engagement initiatives where required.

Requirements

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience coaching Wushu.
  • Demonstrated experience leading coaching teams and managing large-scale coaching programmes.
  • Experience coaching athletes for competitions is required.
  • Experience coaching within Singapore schools or familiarity with Singapore's school sports environment will be an advantage.
  • Experience coaching in another country outside of Singapore will be an advantage.

Technical Knowledge

Candidates should possess:

  • Strong technical competency in both Wushu and Taiji.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of routines currently competed in the Singapore National School Games - be able to teach all routines - Changquan, Nanquan & Taiji - that are competed for in NSG.
  • Ability to develop athletes from beginner to competitive levels.
  • Strong understanding of coaching methodologies, athlete development and competition preparation.

Certifications

Candidates should possess, or be eligible to obtain where applicable, relevant coaching registrations required to conduct coaching in Singapore.

For candidates intending to coach in Singapore schools, relevant registrations such as:

  • National Registry of Coaches (NROC) registration (where applicable)
  • Ministry of Education (MOE) Instructor Registration (where applicable)

will be advantageous.

Working Hours

This is a professional leadership position that requires flexibility.

The successful candidate should be willing to:

  • Work on weekends, as these are peak coaching periods.
  • Work evenings where required.
  • Work extended or irregular hours during competitions, grading assessments, performances, camps, events and other organisational activities.
  • Travel between training venues when required.
