Head - Firmware/Embedded System

About the Opportunity :

A confidential, rapidly growing technology company in the electric mobility and energy-storage sector is looking for a Head of Embedded Firmware to lead the firmware engineering function and define the software architecture and execution strategy for its next-generation Battery Management Systems (BMS).

The role offers an opportunity to build and scale a high-performance embedded software organization supporting electric mobility and stationary energy-storage applications, spanning low- and high-voltage BMS platforms.

Key Responsibilities :

- Lead and scale the embedded firmware engineering organization across multiple BMS platforms and product segments.

- Define the long-term firmware architecture, coding standards, software quality framework and technical roadmap.

- Own software repositories, branching strategy, release management and software configuration control.

- Establish robust SIL, HIL and automated validation infrastructure, integrated with CI/CD pipelines.

- Lead development of safety-critical embedded software covering state of charge (SOC), state of health (SOH), battery balancing, diagnostics, thermal management, charging, and communication protocols.

- Drive compliance with relevant standards including ISO 26262 (ASIL-D), AUTOSAR, MISRA C and automotive cybersecurity practices.

- Establish strong processes for software verification, validation, code reviews, traceability and technical documentation.

- Partner closely with hardware, systems, controls, manufacturing and vehicle-integration teams.

- Own engineering execution, technical delivery, team building, hiring, mentoring and cross-functional coordination.

Ideal Candidate :

- 10 - 18 years of experience in embedded firmware/software development, preferably in automotive, EV, battery or energy-storage systems.

- Strong expertise in Embedded C/C++, RTOS, bootloaders, CAN, UDS, diagnostics and automotive communication protocols.

- Experience developing production-grade BMS firmware or safety-critical embedded systems.

- Hands-on experience with SIL, HIL, automated testing, continuous integration and software release pipelines.

- Strong understanding of functional safety, battery-management algorithms and embedded software architecture.

- Demonstrated experience in building and leading high-performing embedded software teams.
