Head of AI Solutions & Engineering - Technology & Innovation

The Technology & Innovation Team provides thought‑leadership and solutions as well as foundational support to unlock potential and accelerate impact across the organization and global network.

The team leverages a deep understanding of the work and needs of the global organization, its teams, partners, and our expertise and best practices to offer targeted solutions and technologies that accelerate global impact.

You will play a key role in identifying and delivering AI‑forward technologies to support network partners. These tools may include classroom data collection, professional development of fellows, scheduling and management of Assessment Centers, new platforms, connectivity tools, and online learning environments—many with AI components.

The role also involves delivering technology solutions that increase the global organization’s impact, such as improvements to learning portals for staff, fellows, alumni, an online platform for teachers and coaches, and a global constituent voice system for feedback loops.

By taking an AI‑forward approach, you will increase organizational effectiveness, amplify partner impact, and evolve systems and work methods with new tools.

You will successfully manage two solutions engineers and a UI/UX specialist to execute your strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategy Development: Collaborate with network partners and internal stakeholders, including the AI & Ed Tech Initiative, to build context, identify key technology solutions, develop a responsive strategy and prioritize projects, and provide regular updates while revisiting the strategy as needs change.
• Requirements Gathering, Analysis & Execution: Conduct stakeholder interviews to gather requirements, ensure projects are accessible and inclusive, synthesize requirements into holistic solutions, manage budgeting, coordinate with internal and external vendors, train end‑users, identify success metrics, and report progress.
• Team Management: Lead a small team of two within the broader Technology & Innovation Team to deliver the strategy.
• Community Building & Management: Work with the AI & Ed Tech Initiative to develop a community of technology enthusiasts, share best practices, involve community members in solution development, and encourage community‑developed solutions.

Qualifications

• Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent formal training and experience, and at least seven years of relevant experience delivering AI‑forward solutions.
• Strong experience with AI libraries, frameworks, Typescript, Python and REST‑based API integration.
• Proficiency in Git, version control, and collaborative workflows (branching, merging, pull requests).
• Ability to design intuitive and compelling user interfaces.
• Experience with cloud technologies, especially Google Cloud Platform, and comfort with emerging technologies.
• Participation in open‑source projects and communities.
• Passion for education, AI, and EdTech, and a proven track record of delivering technology projects from inception to delivery.
• Business‑analysis, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Sensitivity to diversity in backgrounds, beliefs, socioeconomic, political, etc.
