Head of Business Development (D1 Cash)
Optiver continues to expand across APAC, increasing its regional footprint, expanding access channels across markets, and rolling out strategies across its major business lines.
For its growing D1 Cash business, Optiver is looking to fill a senior external-facing Business Development position in Hong Kong with responsibility to enable further growth in the region through challenging the status quo, gather unique insights and pursuing best-in-class commercial business outcomes.
You will take prime responsibility for Business Development for the D1 Cash business line, with scope for involvement with other business lines too.
Through your expertise and network, you will seek to add value to our business in close collaboration with internal and external business partners. You will work directly with key business stakeholders including trading leaders in the D1 Cash business line, Corporate Strategy and the Institutional Sales team.
What you’ll do:
- You will be professionally representing the regional D1 Cash business in Hong Kong and beyond
- Inform and direct the business on impactful developments relating to our markets, operations, competition and brokerage partners - for better decision making
- Lead and develop business cases, partnerships and pursuing business opportunities to enable growth, in close collaboration with the business
- Challenge the status quo in Optiver’s business model, including but not limited to corporate structure, market access, prime brokerage relationships and services, identifying sources of alpha, insights and improved commercial outcomes
Who you are:
- 8+ years of experience in Business Development, Strategy or Trading roles in the equity-linked Delta 1 space
- Preference for candidates with relevant experience on the buy side (proprietary trading firms, quant and hedge funds) or sell side (including but not limited to Financing, Sales Trading)
- Proven experience creating value through pursuing business opportunities, partnerships and/or commercial outcomes.
- Proven experience building and maintaining senior industry relationships both internally and externally,
- Self-motivated, results driven and commercially minded challenging the status quo
- Critical, detail oriented, strategic thinker, entrepreneurial spirit
- Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in English is a must; Mandarin proficiency ideal but not required
