Head of Commissioning and Reliability

We’re a team of friends bound together by a mission to preserve our planet for future generations through innovative energy solutions and modern infrastructure. Intersect develops, constructs, and operates the most ambitious power and data center infrastructure in the country by co-locating industrial demand with dedicated gas and renewable power generation.

Intersect was acquired by Google in March 2026 and operates as an independent subsidiary. We are developing and constructing multiple gigawatts of energy and data center projects in the U.S., enabling more data center and generation capacity to come online faster. We’re on an aggressive growth trajectory and looking for people hungry to tackle the largest energy challenges on the planet.

Location & Team Gatherings

Intersect has been a fully flexible workplace since its founding in 2016. We’ve been very intentional about the way we do things. We are not work-from-home, hybrid, or in-office - we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations - SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Austin, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in-person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Role

As the Head of Commissioning and Reliability on Intersect's Operations team, you'll design, deploy, and own the scalable playbook that transforms complex, multi-technology clean energy campuses into flawlessly operating infrastructure. Starting with our landmark Meitner project and extending across multiple integrated campuses serving hyperscale data center loads, you will stand up the standardized commissioning frameworks, turnover protocols, and reliability architectures that set the operational baseline for our entire enterprise. You'll sit at the critical nexus of Engineering, Construction, and Operations, building the systems and team that turn ambitious infrastructure designs into long-run operational excellence.

Team Overview

This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition. The Operations team ensures that our complex portfolio of integrated solar, wind, BESS, and natural gas assets operates with uncompromised safety, compliance, and multi-decadal reliability. Joining this team means stepping into a high-impact, platform-building position where your operational methodologies become the standard for the next generation of mission-critical energy infrastructure.

What You'll Do

Architect the Enterprise Commissioning Management Framework

  • Develop, select, and deploy the enterprise commissioning management system (CMS) across all active and future development projects.

  • Establish standardized inspection, testing, and record (ITR) frameworks, factory acceptance test (FAT) standards, and complete turnover package protocols.

  • Author contractor commissioning exhibit standards to be incorporated into all future EPC agreements and vendor scopes.

Build and Own the Enterprise Reliability Architecture

  • Design the overarching reliability strategy, embedding Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies and root-cause analysis frameworks enterprise-wide.

  • Lead the selection and implementation of the enterprise CMMS, ensuring seamless telemetry, SCADA, and asset management software integration.

  • Incorporate reliability software tools (such as Isograph and ReliaSoft) to model asset lifecycles, mitigate critical single points of failure, and optimize availability.

Scale Organization and Oversee Complex Campus Integration

  • Staff, mentor, and direct a high-performing commissioning and reliability organization capable of supporting near-simultaneous multi-campus energizations.

  • Serve as the definitive technical authority at the intersection of Construction, Engineering, and Operations during high-voltage energization and islanded microgrid commissioning.

  • Direct OEM interface protocols and operator qualification programs to ensure a seamless transition from construction to long-term commercial operations.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field.

  • 12+ years executing complex commissioning and reliability programs for high-voltage infrastructure, utility-scale power assets, or mission-critical industrial facilities.

  • Proven experience building a enterprise-wide commissioning playbook and contractor standards from the ground up, rather than executing pre-existing frameworks.

  • Deep technical command of high-voltage (HV) systems, SCADA, plant controls, and reliability software tools such as Isograph, ReliaSoft, or equivalent platforms.

  • Extensive experience with Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), enterprise CMMS deployments, and ITR/turnover package standards for complex multi-technology sites (solar, wind, BESS, generation).

  • A decisive, systems-oriented leadership mindset that excels under high-stakes, multi-project execution environments.

  • Uncompromising commitment to safety and operational excellence, directly aligned with Intersect's core values of Equity, Humility, Authenticity, Long-run Value, and People Come First.
