Lead SKOPE’s connected product strategy and help shape the next generation of smart commercial refrigeration.

SKOPE is looking for a senior technology leader to lead our connected products capability across IoT, cloud, mobile applications, data and emerging smart-product technologies.

Reporting to the Design Manager, this is a key leadership role within Design & Innovation, bringing together software and physical products to create dependable, useful digital capability for our customers and service teams.

The opportunity
You will set the direction for SKOPE’s connected product ecosystem, establishing the technology roadmap and providing the technical leadership required to turn that strategy into reliable products and services.

You will act as SKOPE’s senior technical authority for connected products, ensuring cloud services, applications, data, controllers, sensors and connected hardware work together as a coherent system.

A significant part of the role will involve working with specialist external technology partners. You will set clear technical expectations, challenge proposed solutions and provide effective governance of delivery, while ensuring SKOPE retains strong internal technical ownership and capability.

You will work closely across Design & Innovation, Digital/IT, Service, Manufacturing, Compliance, Sales and Marketing to ensure technical decisions balance customer value, performance, reliability, security, cost and delivery requirements.

The role will also provide direction for emerging connected product opportunities, including Computer Vision, helping SKOPE assess where new technologies can deliver practical and commercially worthwhile value.

What you’ll bring
We are looking for someone with strong experience leading connected, IoT or digital products, ideally in an environment where software and physical products need to work together.
You will bring:

• Strong technical depth across cloud platforms, APIs, data, mobile applications and connected or embedded systems
• Experience defining technology architecture and making sound technical trade-offs
• Experience leading or governing outsourced software and digital development
• A practical understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, software quality and long-term product support
• Strong commercial and product judgement, including build, buy and partner decisions
• The ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A collaborative leadership style and the ability to develop internal capability

Experience with IoT products, connected equipment, industrial systems or Computer Vision would be valuable. Commercial refrigeration experience is not essential.
