THE SCOPE

With 30 years of history, today Gaming1 is one of the international leaders in both land-based and online games of chance (casino games, sports betting and poker). Its evolution at the heart of innovation is accompanied by a diversification and specialization of positions, with the creation of new cutting-edge jobs.

As part of its sustained growth, Gaming1 is looking for a Head of Data Engineering & BI to join its IT Department.

Our IT department serves the full breadth of our retail operations, supporting stakeholders across Finance, HR, Compliance, Legal, and Retail — and we are at an inflection point: moving from reactive data management to a proactive, insight-driven data culture.

YOUR ROLE

  • This is a transformation role, not a maintenance one. You will act as the first dedicated data leader within our IT function, shaping the vision, defining the roadmap, and driving the execution to build a robust, business-driven data practice.
  • You will lead and grow a team of data and BI professionals, positioning data as a strategic asset — structured, trusted and AI-ready — serving the entire IT organisation.
  • Working within a federated data ecosystem, you will collaborate closely with central platform and infrastructure teams, ensuring alignment while progressively clarifying ownership, responsibilities and data governance.
  • Your key responsibilities include:
  • Defining and executing the data & BI strategy and governance
  • Delivering scalable, business-oriented BI solutions
  • Modernising the data stack and ensuring data quality & AI readiness
  • Guiding architecture decisions and data standards
  • Building and structuring a high-performing data team
  • Driving cross-functional collaboration across the organisation

YOUR PROFILE

  • Experience transforming and structuring underperforming data environments
  • Background in data-intensive, regulated industries (banking, insurance, utilities…); gaming is a plus
  • Track record of building and leading data teams
  • Delivery of impactful data products driving business decisions
  • Strong BI expertise (Power BI mandatory), data modelling & semantic layer design
  • Solid understanding of data engineering (warehousing, pipelines, data quality, AWS)
  • Familiar with modern data stack (Medallion, data mesh, dbt or equivalent)
  • Able to challenge architecture and guide technical decisions
  • Awareness of AI/LLM data requirements (RAG, structured data, vector-ready formats)
  • Autonomous and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership
  • Pragmatic: focused on delivering scalable, business-driven solutions
  • Analytical and structured approach to problem-solving
  • Strong stakeholder management across Finance, Compliance & Operations
  • Influential communicator able to drive alignment without formal authority
  • Curious mindset, staying up to date with data & AI trends
  • French and English: professional proficiency (mandatory)
