Lead Alpaca’s data platform strategy and engineering execution on-site, using modern data architecture, ETL, and stakeholder management skills.
As Head of Data Platform, you will lead the growing Platform Engineering team and manage three team leads. You will own the department roadmap while guiding architecture decisions across data engineering, analytics, and production operations. Alpaca’s platform supports invoicing, revenue attribution, regulatory reporting, and hundreds of millions of daily events.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop Platform Engineering and ETL teams Set priorities and ensure delivery through three team leads Own Trino, Iceberg, GCS, Airflow, Airbyte, Redpanda, and dbt architecture Drive invoicing accuracy, embedded analytics, and data change management Operate on-call processes, incident response, and data SLOs Requirements:
Eight-plus years in data engineering Three-plus years managing data teams Proficiency in Python, SQL, Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform Experience with scalable CDC, batch, streaming, and reverse ETL Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones Shape Alpaca’s data platform through architecture leadership, operational discipline, and strong engineering stakeholder management.
