Head of Data Science

Job Summary

Deliver predictive AI (e.g., churn) and open-source GPU model capabilities to drive revenue, cost reduction, and customer experience. Hands-on expert operating as a 1 FTE pillar within the 10-person Data & AI Group.

What You Will Do

• Build predictive models (e.g., churn, propensity) when rules arent enough.

• Serve and fine-tune open-source LLMs on local GPU servers to optimize token and compute costs.

• Use AI coding assistants (Claude Enterprise) daily to accelerate model code delivery.

• Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) to integrate model endpoints into the Go monorepo.

• Collaborate with Data Engineering on feature specifications from clean MDM/mediation layers.

• Track compute/token costs per initiative with PMO and report value against ROI baselines.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 8+ years in applied Data Science/ML with proven hands-on production delivery.

• Expert Python, SQL, statistics, temporal cross- validation, and feature engineering.

• Hands-on technical depth comparable to a BCG X ML Expert.

• Experience deploying open-source LLMs on GPU hardware and evaluating RAG performance.

• Daily proficiency with AI coding tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot).

• Clear executive communication and ability to collaborate with engineering peers.

Preferred Skills

• Telecom, ISP, or large consumer subscription environment experience.

• Experience integrating ML models into Go monorepos or API microservices.

• Familiarity with network, AAA, billing, and Salesforce data models.

• Advanced quantitative degree (Master's/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Math, Stats).
