Head of eCommerce
THE OPPORTUNITY
LPNA Group, Inc. is a newly formed consumer products company created through the combination of two established, private-equity-backed businesses. The company brings together a portfolio of established, value-oriented consumer brands with significant opportunity to expand their digital presence.
Today, eCommerce represents a small portion of the business, with limited infrastructure, systems, organizational capability, and online penetration across the portfolio. The company has an existing base of marketplace activity, but the broader eCommerce capability must be built.
We are looking for a zero-to-one eCommerce builder to create that capability.
This is not a role for someone who wants to inherit a mature channel, large team, established technology stack, or fully developed playbook. The successful candidate will build the strategy, operating model, infrastructure, partnerships, team, and processes required to launch and scale eCommerce across 5–10 established consumer brands.
The right person is equally comfortable setting strategy with the CEO and Board, negotiating with Amazon, determining the right channel architecture, building an online assortment, reviewing a SKU-level P&L, optimizing a digital shelf, selecting an agency, and solving an inventory problem.
We are not hiring someone to run an eCommerce business. We are hiring someone to build one.
WHAT YOU WILL BUILD
The Head of eCommerce will have end-to-end responsibility for building the company’s eCommerce capability, including:
- Strategy & Channel Architecture: Define where and how each brand should compete online, including Amazon, Walmart Marketplace, Target Plus, and other relevant marketplaces.
- Digital Assortment: Determine what products, pack sizes, bundles, pricing, and promotions will work online; identify gaps and develop net-new assortment where appropriate.
- Operating Model: Establish the processes, governance, KPIs, decision rights, launch cadence, and cross-functional ways of working required to scale eCommerce.
- Infrastructure & Technology: Build the systems, data, content, analytics, fulfillment, and marketplace infrastructure needed to operate efficiently.
- P&L & Economics: Build and own the eCommerce P&L, including gross-to-net economics, marketplace fees, advertising, fulfillment, contribution margin, and SKU-level profitability.
- Marketplace Operations: Establish the capabilities required to operate Amazon and Walmart effectively across 1P/3P models, including catalog, content, inventory, pricing, advertising, compliance, and channel management.
- Performance Marketing: Build the framework for digital acquisition, retail media, ROAS/TACoS management, testing, and efficient allocation of marketing dollars.
- Team & Partner Ecosystem: Determine what capabilities should be internal versus external, build the team over time, and select and manage agencies, technology providers, and marketplace partners.
- Repeatable Playbook: Create a scalable process for taking a brand from limited online presence through launch, optimization, and profitable scale.
THE BUILDER WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The most important qualification is demonstrated zero-to-one eCommerce experience. We want someone who has personally built rather than simply managed an established organization.
You should have demonstrated the ability to:
- Build an eCommerce channel from zero or near-zero.
- Launch and scale multiple consumer brands and products on major marketplaces.
- Operate hands-on across Amazon and Walmart, with meaningful experience in both 1P and 3P environments.
- Determine the right channel, assortment, price-pack, and marketplace strategy by brand.
- Build eCommerce infrastructure, processes, reporting, and operating cadence from scratch.
- Make smart decisions about what to build internally versus outsource.
- Select, manage, and hold agencies and external partners accountable.
- Build and manage an eCommerce P&L and understand unit economics at the SKU and channel level.
- Connect traffic, advertising, content, pricing, conversion, inventory, and contribution margin into one operating model.
- Build teams and organizational capabilities as the business scales.
- Prioritize brands, SKUs, channels, and investments when resources are limited.
- Create repeatable processes that make each subsequent brand launch faster and more efficient.
- Lead cross-functionally across marketing, sales, supply chain, operations, finance, IT/data, and external partners without relying solely on direct authority.
- Operate effectively in an environment characterized by ambiguity, limited resources, high expectations, and rapid change.
CORE EXPERTISE
Marketplace Expertise
Deep, hands-on knowledge of Amazon, including Vendor Central, Seller Central, advertising, catalog, digital merchandising, Buy Box, pricing, inventory, retail media, marketplace economics, and channel conflict. Strong working knowledge of Walmart Marketplace and the ability to evaluate and prioritize additional marketplaces as appropriate.
Digital Merchandising & Brand Building
Ability to translate established consumer brands into compelling digital propositions through assortment, PDPs, content, SEO, imagery, reviews, A+ Content, bundles, pricing, promotions, and conversion optimization.
Analytics & Commercial Acumen
Strong financial and analytical capability, including P&L ownership, gross-to-net economics, contribution margin, SKU profitability, forecasting, budgeting, KPI development, and resource allocation.
Operating & Transformation Leadership
Ability to build the systems, processes, governance, cross-functional alignment, and organizational capabilities necessary to turn eCommerce from an emerging channel into a scalable business.
Supply Chain & Fulfillment
Practical understanding of demand planning, inventory allocation, in-stock performance, fulfillment, returns, service levels, and how operational decisions affect marketplace performance and profitability.
HOW YOU OPERATE
The successful candidate will:
- Build rather than inherit.
- Roll up their sleeves rather than simply delegate.
- Think strategically while staying close to the details.
- Move quickly and make decisions with imperfect information.
- Start with economics and work backward to the right growth strategy.
- Know when to build, when to buy, and when to outsource.
- Create clarity and accountability in a matrix organization.
- Be highly analytical, commercially minded, and digitally fluent.
- Take ownership and drive execution.
- Communicate crisply with executives, operators, agencies, and marketplace partners.
- Bring a digital-first mindset while understanding the realities of a physical consumer products business.
IDEAL BACKGROUND
- 10+ years of consumer and/or eCommerce experience.
- Significant CPG experience.
- Proven zero-to-one and scaling experience across multiple brands.
- Deep Amazon expertise with hands-on 1P and 3P experience.
- Meaningful Walmart Marketplace experience.
- Experience owning an eCommerce P&L.
- Experience building teams, systems, and external partner ecosystems.
- Strong financial, analytical, and operational capabilities.
- Experience in a private-equity-backed or similarly performance-oriented environment is preferred.
