Head of Engineering

At Nua , we’re redefining the cybersecurity landscape by building the world’s first AI‑powered autonomous cybersecurity digital employees. While the human approach sets today’s standard, it can’t scale to match the speed and complexity of modern threats.

Nua helps security teams move faster, close the talent gap, and stay ahead of attackers. Built by experienced researchers and practitioners, we’re scaling offensive security to meet the ever‑growing demand.

Join us in shaping the next frontier of autonomous security.

About the Role

As the Head of Engineering, you will lead the engineering organization that builds, ships, and operates Nua's AI‑powered cybersecurity platform. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will own the end‑to‑end engineering function — software development, infrastructure, cloud, CI/CD, and platform reliability — and translate Nua's product vision into a scalable, secure, and resilient engineering reality.

You will set the technical direction across our engineering teams, hire and grow the next layer of engineering leaders beneath you, and partner closely with AI, Security, and Product to deliver Nua's autonomous agents to customers worldwide. Your leadership will define how fast we ship, how reliably we run, and how confidently our customers depend on us.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the engineering strategy and roadmap, in close partnership with the CTO and aligned with Nua's product and business objectives.
  • Lead, hire, and mentor a multi‑disciplinary engineering organization spanning software development, platform, infrastructure, and DevOps; build the next layer of engineering leadership beneath you.
  • Own the architecture, scalability, and reliability of Nua's cloud platform.
  • Establish and continuously raise the bar on software engineering excellence: coding standards, code review culture, testing strategy, release management, and documentation.
  • Build and operate world‑class CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling that enable engineers to ship safely, frequently, and predictably.
  • Define and enforce SLAs, observability, monitoring, and incident‑response practices for Nua's production systems.
  • Drive cloud strategy (AWS, GCP, or Azure), infrastructure‑as‑code adoption, cost optimization, and vendor relationships.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees a plus.
  • 7+ years of professional engineering experience, including prior experience as a Head of Engineering (or equivalent senior engineering leadership role) owning a full engineering function end‑to‑end.
  • Proven track record building and operating cloud‑native, high‑availability platforms in production at scale.
  • Experience designing and deploying on‑premises solutions.
  • Deep expertise across the modern engineering stack: distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS / GCP / Azure), containers and orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, and observability.
  • Hands‑on experience scaling engineering organizations through hiring, performance management, and the introduction of repeatable processes and standards.
  • Strong understanding of software security, compliance frameworks, and the unique demands of running AI/ML workloads in production.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical strategy clearly to executive, business, and customer audiences.
  • Demonstrated success partnering across functions — Product, AI/ML, Security, GTM — to deliver complex products on time.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, AI infrastructure, or other high‑stakes operational domains preferred.
