Head of Engineering
Description
About the company
Our client is a property technology company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Lead an engineering group while remaining hands-on, shaping the architecture and delivery of server-side, data and machine learning software, and developing the people who build it.
What you'll do
- Shape the architecture for server-side, data and machine learning software, including choices about building versus buying tools.
- Make sound design and trade-off decisions and make sure projects ship on schedule.
- Translate priorities into plans, assign owners, identify risks early and clear obstacles for the team.
- Establish practical standards for code quality, security, testing, monitoring and operating production software.
- Coach engineers, give specific feedback and lead performance conversations.
- Turn work built for individual customers into reusable systems and help recruit and grow the team.
- Manage every engineer hired, and join client-facing visits on site as part of the job.

- Has led an engineering team or a substantial multi-person project and can point to concrete improvements that resulted.
- Strong system-design judgment and the ability to dig into code, data and root causes directly.
- Makes tradeoffs and sets priorities in uncertain conditions.
