About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Head of Finance to lead the financial management, planning, reporting, and performance agenda across the organization's insurance and investment operations.
The successful candidate will provide strong financial leadership while ensuring financial discipline, regulatory compliance, effective capital management, and accurate decision-support information for the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board.
This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, technical finance expertise, commercial judgment, and hands-on leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership
Lead the organization's finance function and establish robust financial management practices.
Translate business strategy into financial plans, budgets, and performance objectives.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management and the Board.
Drive profitability, cost efficiency, and sustainable financial growth.
2. Financial Planning & Analysis
Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
Monitor revenue, expenses, profitability, cash flow, and financial performance.
Develop financial models, management reports, and scenario analyses.
Identify financial risks, opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
3. Insurance Finance
Oversee financial management of insurance operations, including premiums, claims, reserves, commissions, and underwriting performance.
Monitor insurance profitability and portfolio performance.
Support capital adequacy, solvency, and liquidity management.
Ensure compliance with applicable insurance accounting and regulatory requirements.
4. Investment & Treasury Management
Monitor investment portfolios, investment income, liquidity, and capital allocation.
Support investment decision-making through financial analysis and performance reporting.
Oversee cash management, treasury operations, and funding requirements.
Evaluate investment risks, returns, and capital utilization.
5. Financial Reporting & Controls
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Maintain strong internal financial controls and accounting policies.
Oversee financial statements, reconciliations, audit processes, and statutory reporting.
Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, tax advisors, and other financial stakeholders.
6. Risk, Governance & Compliance
Establish effective financial risk management frameworks.
Ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax requirements, regulatory obligations, and internal policies.
Strengthen governance, controls, and financial accountability across the organization.
Identify and mitigate financial, liquidity, investment, and operational risks.
7. Finance Transformation
Improve finance processes, systems, reporting, and automation.
Introduce data-driven financial dashboards and management information systems.
Lead initiatives to improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and financial visibility.
8. Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.
Establish clear objectives, KPIs, performance standards, and accountability.
Build a high-performing, commercially focused finance function.
Partner effectively with Operations, Investments, Risk, Legal, HR, and other business functions.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a senior finance professional with strong experience in financial management, FP&A, reporting, treasury, investment finance, and/or insurance finance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CFA, or equivalent preferred.
8–12+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably within insurance, investments, banking, financial services, or a diversified group.
Proven experience leading or managing a finance function.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial controls.
Experience with investment and/or insurance financial operations is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, taxation, and corporate governance.
Demonstrated experience working with senior executives, Boards, auditors, regulators, and investors.
