👀 The Role
Title: Head of Fraud and Risk
Team: Compliance — Fraud, Risk & Payments
Location: Gibraltar
As our Head of Fraud and Risk, you’ll lead Fraud, Risk & Payments for the UK and Ireland from Gibraltar. You’ll shape how we identify and prevent fraud, strengthen payment and chargeback controls, and protect the business while keeping the experience smooth for genuine players.
You’ll combine strategic leadership with hands-on problem-solving: understanding what works today, identifying the gaps, and turning that insight into practical improvements. Working closely with Trading/Risk, AFC/AML, Safer Gambling and Compliance, you’ll build clear ownership and effective controls across the player journey.
You will:
Understand the landscape in your first 1–3 months by reviewing our systems, processes, controls, chargeback procedures and third-party arrangements, and completing a gap analysis to identify what’s effective, what needs to change and where we can reduce unnecessary cost or risk.
Turn insight into action from around month 3 by prioritising and implementing improvements across fraud prevention, risk assessment, payments, chargebacks and monitoring.
Stay ahead of emerging threats by improving early detection of organised fraud, bonus abuse, stolen-card activity and linked-account/IP patterns, and strengthening our response to new fraud trends.
Protect our products by assessing new products, betting changes, odds and payout processes for exploitable gaps, partnering with Trading and Risk on proportionate controls.
Lead the function by developing the team and establishing clear processes, decision-making, reporting and escalation routes across Fraud, Risk & Payments.
Connect the right teams by partnering with AFC/AML, Safer Gambling and Compliance where risks overlap, and sharing relevant trends and effective practices with our separate Canada fraud lead.
Measure what matters by establishing meaningful KPIs and baselines, tracking control effectiveness and customer impact, and delivering a measurable reduction in losses from fraud, chargebacks and bonus abuse.
The next Midniter:
Is an experienced fraud and risk leader, or a senior lead ready to step into a Head-level role, with a track record of turning strategy into effective operational controls.
Ideally brings gambling-industry experience. We’re also open to strong banking or financial-services backgrounds, or broader financial-crime experience with relevant, transferable fraud and risk expertise.
Has reviewed systems and processes, identified gaps, and delivered practical improvements in fraud prevention, payments, chargebacks and risk management.
Can use data and operational insight to spot patterns, prioritise exposure and judge whether controls are working.
Is familiar with the UK Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP). We don’t require a particular qualification or experience with our internal tools.
Brings sound judgement, curiosity and clear communication, and can build trust across teams while balancing risk, customer experience and commercial needs.
