Logistics Procurement is a key function within the Global Procurement team and is responsible for securing competitive, resilient, and compliant logistics supplier solutions that support Vestas' global business operations. The General Freight & Logistics Services team is a globally distributed organization consisting of 7 FTEs, responsible for driving sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and commercial excellence across a diverse logistics portfolio. The team plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal balance between capacity, safety, quality, service performance, and cost, enabling Vestas to meet its operational and strategic objectives worldwide.
Operating as a globally integrated organization, Logistics Procurement partners closely with stakeholders across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales, Service, and Procurement, as well as key external logistics providers, to develop and execute sourcing strategies that ensure reliable and cost-effective logistics solutions. The role works extensively with senior business leaders, regional logistics teams, and strategic suppliers to drive business value, support operational continuity, and mitigate supply risks across the logistics value chain. Supply Chain is one of the most critical stakeholder groups for this role.
Responsibilities
Lead the General Freight logistics subcategory, covering standardized and containerized transportation flows across the supply chain, including inbound and outbound freight movements between factories, ports, warehouses, and project sites on a global scale
Lead strategic supplier relationships and performance governance for key logistics partners, driving service excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement
Deliver cost savings and value creation initiatives through market intelligence, spend analysis, benchmarking, and complex commercial negotiations
Establish and maintain robust contract frameworks covering commercial terms, service levels, compliance, QHSE requirements, and risk management
Partner with stakeholders across Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales, and Service to align logistics strategies with business objectives
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing global team of 7 FTEs, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional growth across multiple locations and cultures
Translate logistics market trends, supplier risks, and operational requirements into executive recommendations, procurement roadmaps, and strategic business decisions
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline
Extensive experience in logistics procurement, strategic sourcing, category management, or supply chain leadership within a global industrial, manufacturing, OEM, energy, or engineering environment
Proven leadership experience managing global or regional teams, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering results in a complex matrix organization
Commercial, strategic, and analytical capabilities, with a solid understanding of logistics markets, supplier management, contract negotiations, cost drivers, service performance, and risk management
Demonstrated success in complex supplier negotiations, contract management, and supplier development, ideally working with major logistics providers such as Maersk, DSV, or similar global partners
Experience leveraging spend analytics, market intelligence, and business requirements to develop category strategies, drive cost optimization initiatives, and improve supplier performance
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, combined with fluent English proficiency; experience with procurement systems such as SAP, Ariba, or similar tools is considered advantageous
Competencies
Strategic and commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex logistics market trends, supplier dynamics, and business requirements into clear category strategies and actionable recommendations
Strong negotiation and supplier management capabilities, with proven success in building and managing strategic partnerships with global logistics providers and key external stakeholders
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders, align cross-functional teams, and drive informed decision-making in a global environment
Data-driven and analytical approach to problem-solving, supported by strong financial acumen, cost analysis capabilities, KPI interpretation, and fact-based decision-making
Ability to lead change and navigate ambiguity, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced and evolving logistics and procurement landscape
Strong execution focus, with the ability to translate strategy into measurable results while effectively balancing operational and business priorities
High levels of ownership, integrity, and collaboration, combined with a continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to developing high-performing teams and sustainable business outcomes
