Head of Infrastructure
Job Description
The Head of Infrastructure is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing the end-to-end infrastructure landscape, including data centers, on-premises platforms, cloud environments, networking, end-user computing, and infrastructure supporting business-critical systems. This role ensures infrastructure reliability, availability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency while aligning technology operations with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and implement infrastructure architecture, technology roadmaps, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and technology refresh strategies.
Oversee infrastructure availability and operational performance across data centers, networks, end-user computing, and telephony systems supporting call center operations.
Establish monitoring, observability, and operational dashboards to improve system visibility, performance, and incident response.
Ensure resilient infrastructure design through high availability, redundancy, failover, and disaster recovery capabilities across on-premises and hybrid environments.
Lead infrastructure modernization, standardization, consolidation, and migration initiatives, including selective cloud adoption.
Drive infrastructure automation, scripting, infrastructure-as-code, and pipeline integration to improve operational efficiency and deployment consistency.
Ensure infrastructure readiness for application launches, business expansion, call center scaling, and peak-demand scenarios.
Manage infrastructure total cost of ownership (TCO), budgets, procurement, and demand planning while optimizing OPEX and CAPEX.
Ensure compliance with IT risk management, regulatory requirements, security standards, vulnerability management, patching, and infrastructure hardening.
Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning, including failover readiness and testing.
Govern managed service providers (MSPs) and strategic vendors, ensuring service-level agreement (SLA) compliance, operational accountability, cost efficiency, and contract performance.
Build and lead a high-performing infrastructure organization, focusing on talent development, retention, succession planning, and technical capability building.
Lead major infrastructure programs, including data center construction or migration, infrastructure refresh, platform consolidation, and infrastructure support for AI and analytics initiatives.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
15+ years of IT experience, with at least 7–10 years in infrastructure leadership roles within enterprise or regulated environments, such as financial services, telecommunications, or large-scale platform operations.
Proven experience as a Head of Infrastructure, Head of Network, Senior Infrastructure Lead, or in a comparable senior infrastructure leadership position.
Experience managing large-scale infrastructure environments with at least 500 virtual machines (VMs), ideally more than 1,000, supported by a primary data center and disaster recovery data center setup.
Strong expertise across data centers, compute, storage, enterprise networking, and end-user computing environments.
Proven experience managing hybrid infrastructure, with an on-premises-dominant environment and cloud integration.
Demonstrated experience leading teams of 20–50+ engineers, including internal employees and managed service provider resources.
Experience managing business-critical, always-on environments with strict availability SLAs, 24/7 operations, and high-volume transaction or customer-facing platforms.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure operations, incident management, problem management, change management, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and infrastructure resilience.
Proven experience in managed service provider (MSP) governance, outsourced infrastructure operations, SLA/KPI management, vendor accountability, contract management, and cost optimization.
Experience managing total cost of ownership (TCO), OPEX/CAPEX planning, infrastructure budgets, procurement, demand management, and financial optimization.
Knowledge of IT risk management (ITRM), audit and compliance requirements, preferably within a BSP-regulated or equivalent environment.
Experience in security patching, vulnerability management, infrastructure hardening, business continuity, and disaster recovery.
Strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, stakeholder management, communication, and people leadership capabilities.
Ability to balance strategic infrastructure direction with detailed technical oversight, continuous improvement, and risk-aware innovation.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
Experience supporting multi-country or regional infrastructure operations.
Experience leading data center transformation, consolidation, or migration programs.
