Head of Insights
So, who are we?
IG Group is a FTSE 100 fintech operating across five continents, serving over 1.4m customers and handling billions of dollars in transactions – built on scale, trust, and proof. We didn't pivot to innovation; it's how we've always operated. What that means for the people who work here is real: genuinely complex problems to solve, the technology and resources to tackle them properly, and the kind of scope that's rare in established businesses.
The bar is high – bring a curious and forward-thinking mindset and we'll give you the platform to define what comes next.
Join us at IG – the future gets built here.
Your Team:
This role reports into the Marketing & Growth Director and sits on the Marketing & Growth Leadership Team, working alongside Brand & Product Marketing, Content, PR & Public Affairs and Creative. You'll also partner closely with Performance, Product, Commercial and Operations, ensuring customer insight informs decisions well beyond marketing activity. You act as the insight engine for the function, translating complex data into clear, compelling narratives that help stakeholders understand what is working, why, and what to do next.
Your role in the Team’s Success:
IG Consumer is looking for a sharp, commercially minded Insight Lead to sit at the heart of our Marketing & Growth function. You'll shape how we understand our customers and hold a seat at the Marketing & Growth Leadership Team, using data, research, and competitive intelligence to drive smarter, faster decisions across campaigns, brand, product, commercial and operations.
You'll be expected to run research and analysis yourself as well as set the strategic agenda, translating complex questions from senior stakeholders into a clear insight plan and delivering the answers personally.
What you’ll do:
Strategy & stakeholder leadership
- Be the voice of the customer on the Marketing & Growth leadership team, contributing an insight-led perspective to strategic planning, campaign prioritisation, and commercial decision-making
- Own the Insights roadmap, partnering closely with Product, Commercial and Operations leadership to ensure insight informs operational decisions, not just marketing activity.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, constructively challenging with data and translating ambiguous business questions into a clear insight agenda and actionable recommendations.
- Define and own the future shape of the Insights function – team structure, capability, hiring, with accountability for developing into senior insight practitioners
Consumer & behavioural insight
- Design and execute primary research programmes (quantitative and qualitative), ensuring they are methodologically robust, to develop a deep understanding of IG's existing and prospective customers, their motivations, behaviours, and unmet needs.
- Partner with Head of Data & Analytics to analyse behavioural data to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights that inform marketing strategy and campaign planning
- Lead the development of self-service tools which allow stakeholders to remain consistently informed
Competitive & market intelligence
- Monitor the competitive landscape, tracking competitor positioning, messaging, product developments, and marketing activity.
- Synthesise market intelligence into clear strategic briefings that help senior stakeholders understand the external environment and identify opportunities.
Performance insight & reporting
- Partner with Head of Brand, PR and Content to evaluate marketing performance, going beyond surface-level metrics to surface the 'so what' behind the numbers.
- Develop and iterate a scalable reporting framework that enables consistent, data-driven decisions across the function.
Insight capability & vendor management
- Champion a culture of insight-led decision making across Marketing & Growth, proactively identifying opportunities where data and research can add value.
- Manage relationships with external research vendors and platforms (e.g. Qualtrics), ensuring quality outputs and value for money.
What You'll Need:
- Experience leading insight strategy at a senior stakeholder or leadership team level
- Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience using data analytics software like SPSS, Python or Askia
- Demonstrable experience designing and running primary research programmes using platforms such as Qualtrics
- Proven ability to synthesise multiple data sources — quantitative, qualitative, and competitive — into cohesive, actionable strategic insight.
- Passionate about customers and believe the best commercial decisions begin with meaningful insight
- You build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders across different functions and levels of seniority
- Experience partnering across Marketing, Product, and Operations functions to embed insight into decisions beyond marketing.
- Commercially minded with a genuine curiosity about consumer behaviour and what drives performance across multiple markets.
- Experience integrating AI in workflows or an interest in learning how to do so
Desirable
- Experience working in fintech, financial services, or another regulated, performance-driven sector.
- Experience working both agency side and in an house insight team
- Experience building or evolving an insight capability from the ground up, including introducing new tools, processes, or frameworks.
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g. GDPR) and their implications for research and analytics.
The perks:
It really is more than a job. We think like a start-up, but we deliver like a FTSE 100 — so the bar is high, and we won't pretend otherwise. We work hybrid, which means three days in the office. We’ll recognise your talent and make sure that you can still have a life – at work, and outside of it. Networks, committees, awards, sports and social clubs, mentorships, volunteering opportunities, extra time off… the list goes on.
