Role Overview:
The Head of Legal/Contract at Solarvest is responsible for leading the legal and contract management function across the organization. This role will provide strategic legal advice, oversee contract negotiation and management, ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and support risk management to safeguard the company's interests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the legal team in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts across various business units.
  • Advise management on legal risks, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop and implement contract management policies, procedures, and templates to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Oversee the management of all disputes and litigation matters, collaborating with external counsel when necessary.
  • Provide proactive legal counsel to business units to support business objectives while minimizing legal risks.
  • Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the company and ensure timely communication and compliance.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders including regulators, external lawyers, and business partners on legal matters.
  • Mentor and develop the legal team to enhance capabilities and performance.
  • Support corporate transactions, mergers & acquisitions, and joint ventures with legal expertise.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures adhere to applicable laws and industry best practices.
  • Manage legal budgets and resources effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law or equivalent; a professional legal qualification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in legal practice, preferably in corporate/commercial law.
  • Strong experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and management in a corporate environment.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing a legal/contract team.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and corporate governance matters.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide strategic advice to senior management.
  • Experience in the renewable energy or energy sector is an advantage.
