Head of Medical Operations (m/f/d)
Description
HYROX is a global sports event series that combines running and functional fitness training in a unique race format. Founded in Germany in 2017, HYROX has evolved into a worldwide fitness movement with events across five continents, attracting millions of athletes every season.
As our Head of Medical Operations (m/f/d), you are the operational backbone behind our global medical governance, leading the network of Medical Liaison Officers (MLOs) across every HYROX region. You combine strategic system design with real-world event execution, turning high-level medical standards into seamless, practical workflows on the race floor. If you combine deep event medical operations expertise with exceptional leadership and a passion for setting a new global safety standard in major sports events, this is your opportunity to lead from the front!
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
MLO Network Leadership: Lead the team responsible for recruiting, vetting, onboarding, and rostering Medical Liaison Officers (MLOs) across all HYROX regions globally.
Systems Infrastructure: Design, install, and oversee the systems behind the MLO network, covering vetting, rostering, equipment and medication supply, and record-keeping.
SOP & Safety Governance: Oversee consistent application of Incident Management SOPs across every event, spanning Mainstream and Adaptive racing, Elite racing, and Young Stars.
Training & Capability Building: Train MLOs and Regional Leads, effectively translating global HYROX medical standards into practical, usable on-site training.
Auditing & Continuous Learning: Audit regional compliance and run post-incident debriefs to ensure key learnings continuously feed back into refining our global standards.
On-Site Escalation: Attend priority events globally as the senior escalation point for trackside medical operations.
Strategic Reporting: Report directly to the Director of Sports and the Global Medical Advisor on network performance, compliance, and risk.
YOUR PROFILE
Medical Event Expertise: Proven track record in managing medical operations, emergency response, or safety logistics within major sports events or mass-participation live environments.
Operational Architect: Highly organized planner capable of designing scalable systems (rostering, inventory, compliance) while maintaining precise attention to detail.
Crisis Leadership: Calm, decisive, and authoritative under pressure, with the ability to serve as the senior trackside escalation point during critical incidents.
Stakeholder & Alignment Power: Strong interpersonal credibility to bridge high-level advisory (Global Medical Advisor, Director of Sports) with hands-on regional execution teams.
