Head of Operations - Oil & Commodity Trading

Our client is one of the largest commodities in the world, and they are currently seeking a Head of Operations – Oil & Commodity Trading to join their team in Singapore.
Your new role
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end trade operations function for physical commodity transactions, ensuring timely and accurate execution from deal capture through settlement.
- Manage daily operations across crude oil, refined products, petrochemicals, and bitumen trading activities.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and controls to enhance efficiency, scalability, and risk management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with Trading, Logistics, Shipping, Finance, Treasury, Risk, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure seamless execution of transactions.
- Oversee shipping and logistics activities, including vessel nominations, chartering coordination, terminal operations, cargo movements, and inventory management.
- What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in commodity trading operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Proven experience overseeing operations for physical trading of crude oil, petroleum products, petrochemicals, bitumen, or other energy commodities.
- Strong knowledge of physical trade execution, shipping and logistics, Incoterms, Letters of Credit, international trade documentation, and settlement processes.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
