Lead the day to day running of the Wealth Admin operations function within the NZ business including Corporate Actions, Trading and Operational Controls. Ensure the delivery of daily services is consistently high, establishing good reporting and data-driven management practices. Establish and nurture relationships with current clients and helping to identify cross and up selling opportunities. Support the expansion and growth of the New Zealand business by identifying and driving key change initiatives to improve efficiencies as well as playing a key role in growth opportunities.

Operate within an increasingly complex regulatory environment and ensure the function maintains a strong control framework, regulatory compliance and operational resilience while continuing to deliver excellent client outcomes.

Demonstrate leadership in identifying, analysing and resolving complex operational issues, driving a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and service excellence.

Build strong operational partnerships with clients and internal stakeholders, recognising that exceptional service delivery and trusted relationships are critical to client retention and business growth.

Job Responsibilities:

The role duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Lead the Wealth Admin operations function to deliver excellence in service provision

  • Implement initiatives and changes to continuously improve service delivery and drive efficiency

  • Active end to end management of all external relationships involved in service provision within the Wealth Admin function

  • Proactively identify, assess and resolve operational, regulatory and client service issues, escalating matters where appropriate and ensuring timely remediation. Ensure compliance with all legislation, regulations, licensing conditions and regulatory guidance, maintaining a strong control environment and proactively responding to evolving regulatory expectations and industry developments.

  • Ensure the appropriate risk identification and management practices are in place within the Wealth Admin operations function

  • Lead the function to encourage a high-performance culture and commitment to continuous improvement

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to staff to ensure the achievement of individual and team objectives, ensuring that development conversations and 1-1’s are happening for all staff

  • Maintain a positive work environment that supports attracting, retaining and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all time

  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and up-sell and implement structures and strategies to achieve financial, people and client targets and budgets

  • Develop trusted operational relationships with senior client stakeholders, providing proactive, responsive service and acting as a senior escalation point for operational matters.

  • Support client retention and growth through consistent service excellence.

  • Proactively engage with Risk, Compliance, Technology, Finance, Client Relationship Management and other business functions to resolve issues, improve processes and deliver positive client outcomes.

  • Building networks and relationships within industry

  • Identify and pre-empt client issues and devise solutions for remedies

Proven Experience & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgement and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience managing complex operational, client or regulatory issues.

  • Experience working within a regulated financial services environment subject to regulatory oversight and scrutiny.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively across multiple business functions and stakeholder groups.

  • 10-15 years’ experience in the finance industry. Experience in Wealth Administration will be a strong plus

  • Strong collaborative people leader able to engage teams

  • Strong commercial acumen, professional maturity and discretion

  • Demonstrable broad management skills in risk management, IT, regulatory compliance, and client management

  • Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics

  • Proven experience delivering strategic initiatives

  • Excellent interpersonal and ability to present at an executive team and board level

  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
