Within Sandvik Group, we’re passionate about development and advanced technology, and we always aim to offer the best possible experience for our customers. Sandvik Attachment Tools Division manufactures and sells attachments for construction and mining machinery. The division has production units in Lahti, Finland, Molfetta, Italy and Cleveland, USA. At the Lahti factory, we design, test, manufacture, assemble, and sell our main products, the world-famous Rammer hydraulic hammers, which have been successful in the market for over 40 years.

Head of Products – Breaker Booms, Lahti, Finland

Do you want to own a global product business, from strategy to profit?

Our breaker boom systems help mines and quarries break oversized rock safely at crushers and grizzlies. As Head of Products – Breaker Booms, you lead our global boom offering through the whole life cycle: from concept and development to launch, life-cycle management and end of life. You have the technical, commercial and financial responsibility for the products: product performance, quality and safety, market positioning and offering, as well as pricing, gross margin and product cost.

Boom system engineering and manufacturing are done together with our joint-venture partner in France. This means that a big part of the role is leading the partnership well: you set the direction and make the product decisions, and our partner does the manufacturing.

Your responsibilities
  • Set and execute the product strategy for the boom offering: which segments we serve, and how we position our products in the market.

  • Work closely with sales and the Sandvik sales areas as a key stakeholder and build deep customer and application insight through regular contact with customers and the field.

  • Own the product roadmap and development portfolio, and decide which projects start, stop and get priority.

  • Own pricing, margin and cost development across all sales channels, for new equipment, parts and service.

  • Lead product requirements, system architecture, verification and validation.

  • Lead customer-specific development projects, from customer needs and solution concept to delivery.

  • Lead the engineering cooperation with our partner in France, with shared priorities, gate reviews, clear decision rights and the right capacity.

  • Make sure that products meet the relevant directives, standards and certifications, and build safety and sustainability into the product design.

  • Lead and develop the product development and management team in Lahti (Chief Engineer, Product Manager, R&D Engineers and Application Engineer), and work well with global R&D functions in a matrix organization.

Your profile
Must have
  • Several years of experience in R&D, engineering and product management or product line leadership with industrial equipment, with responsibility for business results and pricing.

  • Understanding of selling through indirect channels, such as sales areas and dealers.

  • Experience of engineering in delivery projects. You can turn customer and application needs into a working solution and support project sales.

  • Experience of leading and growing an expert team: you can recruit, build new capabilities and grow the team as the business grows. You build trust quickly and you are good at both strategy and practical work.

  • Experience of leading engineering work with partners or teams in other countries.

  • Fluent English.

Nice to have
  • Knowledge of mining or quarry processes.

  • Knowledge of breaker booms, hydraulics, control systems or automation, for example tele-remote solutions.

  • Finnish or French.
